00:45When I became an MLA,
00:49I was fortunate enough to be made the chairman of the Home Standing Committee.
00:57I had the opportunity to visit all the prisons and jails in the state.
01:04It's not that I was sent there.
01:07I wanted to know what kind of people are there.
01:12What do they do? What do they eat? How do they live?
01:15What kind of problems do they face?
01:18What crime did they commit?
01:21Why are they here?
01:23Who are these people in jail?
01:31They don't know about fundamental rights,
01:35they don't know about the preamble,
01:38they don't know about fundamental duty.
01:40They do a lot of things,
01:43they slap someone,
01:44they cheat people,
01:46they do all kinds of things.
01:48These people have not been released for years.
01:53The reason for this is that
01:55whatever is left at home,
01:57land, property, utensils,
02:00will all be gone.
02:02For so many years,
02:04have they committed a crime?
02:06No, they haven't.
02:08They are still in jail.
02:10They become a burden.
02:13They have human rights.
02:18We can make them skilled.
02:21They don't want to come out,
02:23because the society will feel bad.
02:26These days, jails are overcrowded.
02:32Many more prisons will have to be built.
02:35We are moving forward,
02:37we are moving towards development.
02:40What is the need to build more jails?
02:44We should reduce them.
02:46These three pillars,
02:48these three wings,
02:50Legislature, Executive and Judiciary,
02:55for the public, for the country,
03:01for the people,
03:03everyone's mind,
03:05everyone's thinking should be one.
03:08There should be check and balance,
03:11but somewhere,
03:13somewhere,
03:15we should work together.
03:17We are for the people.
03:19We are through the people.
03:21That's why it's our job to think for the people.
03:24All of you sitting here,
