00:05What you have done in the last two seconds is taken in lot of chemicals, lot of pollutants from the atmosphere into your lungs.
00:30You see lot of dust that is indoor air pollution. You see gaseous substances which are emitted when you are cooking.
00:56So if you have pets like cats and dogs and other furry animals at your home, they also shed their fur and that circulates in the atmosphere.
01:05And lot of pollution which is coming from the outside. There are a host of invisible substances which you cannot see.
01:26Viruses and bacteria are among the leading causes of indoor air pollution. They enter our respiratory tract through the nose and they go inside the lungs and they cause a host of various diseases.
01:45It's a big myth that indoor air pollution does not have any major side effects. Practically every organ of the body does get affected.
01:52Irritation in the eye, irritation in the throat, you have headache, dizziness, sometimes lot of coughing, an episode of bronchitis.
02:04Most important thing is proper ventilation of the house. For 10 minutes, 15 minutes, try to open up all your windows, your doors.
02:12Exhausts are very very important. Smoking if you are doing inside the house, it's a big no. It increases all the thousands of chemicals which are released from the smoke.
02:52People are much more aware about their health now. That is a very positive step. But now after knowing all the harmful effects of indoor air pollution, it is high time that we focus on indoor air pollution also and not neglect it by any means.
