00:00The first thing I said was, let it be, I don't want any treatment.
00:04So they said, you have to be treated.
00:06I said, I can't take chemotherapy and all that stuff, so let it be.
00:09And if it's meant to be, it's meant to be and I'm going to go.
00:25I had cancer, it was not broken to me in a proper way.
00:29It was done in a different way where my wife was not there,
00:35my family, sisters, nobody was there, I was alone.
00:38And this guy walks up and he says, you've got cancer.
00:43So it hit me, I just couldn't understand it.
00:46And then my wife was in Dubai, she didn't know about it.
00:49Then Priya was told, Priya came and she said, I think that you've got cancer.
00:58So my first reaction was that, okay, I've got cancer.
01:03What are you going to do about it?
01:05You know what happens, your whole life reflects back on you.
01:09Everything just came back and my children and I have a history in my family.
01:16My mom died of pancreatic cancer, my wife died of brain cancer and everything.
01:22And it was like a shock.
01:24So the first thing I said was, let it be, I don't want any treatment.
01:29So they said, you have to be treated.
01:31I said, I can't take chemotherapy and all that stuff, so let it be.
01:34And if it's meant to be, it's meant to be and I'm going to go.
01:37Rakesh Kumar ji, Rakesh Roshan ji, he spoke to me.
01:41And he says, Sanjay, there's this doctor, Sevanti, she's amazing and all that.
01:47And you go and be treated by her.
01:49I said, sir, I'm not interested.
01:51He said, I'll tell you something, she's really pretty also.
01:53I said, really?
01:55I said, then I'm going.
01:58Anyway, but I went and we met, Sevanti ji.
02:03You see, I realized one thing is that I had to fight this and I just didn't have cancer.
02:12That is it.
02:13I'm being treated for something else.
02:16And I think initially you couldn't understand, I mean, how come I'm telling you all that, right?
02:23That's correct.
02:24That's very correct.
02:25He said, I'm going to just think I don't have cancer.
02:28And whatever it is, I'm going to beat it.
02:30That's how I'm going to take it.
02:32And I'm just sitting there staring at him, thinking, you know how we define denial in our books.
02:41I thought, oh, he's in denial.
02:44But actually, he wasn't in denial.
02:47He had just pledged to go through this, be brave about it and face it head on.
02:56And that's what played out through the treatment.
02:59You know, I saw my family break down.
03:02I saw my wife breaking down.
03:03I saw my sisters broken.
03:05I saw everybody breaking around me.
03:08And I decided one night, I sat down and I told myself.
03:13I said, if I break down, if I fall sick, they are going to fall sick.
03:17You know, so, I mean, I got to not fall sick.
03:21And I'm going to be so tough.
03:23I mean, what is cancer?
03:25I mean, I've fought so many battles.
03:26I'll fight this thing, whatever it is.
03:29And we went for the treatment and there was a pipe put in my chest, I think to drain the water out.
03:36And I remember I told Sevanti ji, this is going to come out in two weeks.
03:40I told you this?
03:41Yes, correct.
03:42And what happened?
03:43It did.
03:44I told Sevanti ji, is that, Sevanti ji, can I please go for my shooting?
03:50So, she said, no, no, you can't go for your shooting.
03:52Now, it's just started.
03:53It's the peak of COVID.
03:54Peak of COVID.
03:56Yeah, but the chemo had just started.
03:59I said, you have to let me go.
04:01I said, it's for my, my moral boost.
04:06And it's for the people of the industry who I'm working with that I got to go for that shoot.
04:11I convinced her and I went.
04:13And she said, what is the shoot?
04:15I said, I just have to stand there and that's it.
04:17But it wasn't like that.
04:19I was put on a harness and I was hanging upside down.
04:22Six hours he was hanging upside down in a harness right after chemotherapy.
