00:00I believe alcohol is as bad as smoking.
00:02It starts with one drink and then, you know, it suddenly builds drinking.
00:05Anna has never had a drink, no?
00:07I've never.
00:08I used to see mild, timid guys change with a one drink, with two drinks, with three drinks
00:16and a four drink, you know, and different personalities.
00:30I used to binge drink before, you know, like every once in a while.
00:59You know, we'd all catch up and once a friend's around, you know, it starts with one drink
01:04and then, you know, it's suddenly binge drinking.
01:07But then, you know, the last two, three years, all the research I've done, I mean, I think
01:10binge drink, there's nothing more harmful that it can do to your body than binge drinking.
01:14Do you drink Mukesh?
01:18Used to.
01:19I was a regular drinker, never really a heavy drinker, but I was into my wine.
01:25I think over a period of time, I learned to enjoy my wine.
01:28But every time I'll drink, next day I'll pay the price.
01:31I'll have a terrible sleep.
01:32I'll wake up, you know, just feeling groggy and not up to it.
01:35I will definitely miss my workout and whole day I'll feel like my brain is not working.
01:38I'm like this, you know, compromised, you know, person, you know, just there, but not
01:42really there.
01:43And then I'll remind myself, you know, is it really worth it?
01:45Do I want to do it again?
01:46Next will come by, next week will come by, next social occasion.
01:49Then you start with, you know, one drink.
01:50Last year, I decided enough is enough, you know, I stopped.
01:53It's been nine months.
01:54I have not touched a drink.
01:55The intention is to not do drink.
01:56And I agree with you on all the research I've seen.
01:58This alcohol, you know, I think it's been marketed all too well, especially wine is
02:02good for you kind of marketing last 20 years and absolutely bogus, there's no truth to
02:06it whatsoever.
02:07Alcohol, I mean, I guess I can say on this podcast, at this point, I believe alcohol
02:11is as bad as smoking.
02:13It's only a matter of time before, I think science already caught up.
02:16There is absolutely no dispute as far as science goes, but the mainstream media and the communication
02:20has not caught up.
02:22I think it's a matter of time.
02:23Apparently, most people die of loneliness and stress.
02:26I mean, that's really the bigger killer than, you know, cardio or mental and etc.
02:32I mean, loneliness and stress.
02:33And then if a little bit of alcohol can get you over that, now, the question is, is it
02:38a safe enough compromise to make or not?
02:41Because, you know, if a drink is a reason for you to get together with friends, can
02:46it bring down the stress in a way helping you in some way, right?
02:49And maybe the key is to keep it to just one drink.
02:51The problem is the inhibition goes down so much after the first drink and that's when
02:55your troubles start.
02:56I mean, it's just, I think, much easier to not drink than to have just one drink and
03:01stop, right?
03:02So that's like once the one becomes two or three and that's when, you know, I think you're
03:05well past solving for loneliness and social isolation and so on.
03:09Anna has never had a drink, no?
03:11No, but then you're the chauffeur when you don't drink, you know, with friends, you're
03:16driving them around.
03:17I've never, I never did.
03:18But what was the, what was the thing in your head which made you not even want to have
03:22a sip?
03:23I guess, like I said, my martial arts background and then heavy drinkers at times in the family
03:28and what they go through.
03:30Is that it?
03:31Like somebody you saw drinking heavily?
03:32Not necessarily impacted, that hasn't impacted or, you know, that's not the decision.
03:38But then I've seen people and behaviors change and people change and running a restaurant
03:43myself, a bar myself, you know, we used to work with dad and took care of the bar.
03:50And I used to see mild, timid guys change with a one drink, with two drinks, with three
03:58drinks and the fourth drink, you know, and different personalities.
04:01So I think somewhere down the line, I also saw too much of that and decided, you know
04:06what, it's better to stay away.
04:08And then it became a challenge and then people started, like I said, started appreciating
04:12your health and your career was dependent on your fitness.
