00:00Just because you're successful at 15 doesn't mean you'll be successful at 19.
00:03Whether you've won or lost, it is not a day wasted.
00:06But there is more to life.
00:07Virat Kohli has as much skills as a lot of other people,
00:10but Virat Kohli is mentally tougher than everyone else.
00:17Experience is not playing more matches.
00:20Experience is learning from matches you play.
00:23You can play 30 matches, and if you don't learn anything,
00:28it's like playing the same match 30 times.
00:31But the people who improve, the people who get better,
00:34are the ones who learn from each and every game,
00:37who get to know themselves better.
00:39So all of you, whether you've won or lost,
00:42it is not a day wasted.
00:43A lot of times people get disappointed.
00:45Oh, we lost the match. Oh, we didn't play well.
00:47I scored zero.
00:48But that doesn't matter.
00:50You've had an experience.
00:51What have you learned from that experience?
00:53That is what will help you.
00:54All of you are young.
00:55It's a journey.
00:57These are just experiences.
00:58There's no good and bad.
01:00People get disappointed very quickly.
01:02What is important is what you learn from these experiences.
01:06This is my experience of coaching over the last few years.
01:10One of the things that I've sort of seen is the boys
01:13who tend to succeed more in pressure situations
01:16or the ones who are succeeding in the big games
01:19are people who have slightly more well-rounded personalities.
01:22So all of you are obviously practicing.
01:26Every one of you practices every day.
01:28I'm sure you're working hard.
01:29I don't need to say these things.
01:30These things are part and parcel of what you are as cricketers.
01:33I'm sure you love the game.
01:34So you practice every day.
01:35Your coaches keep telling you to do that.
01:37But there is more to life and there's more to success.
01:40If you want to succeed in this game,
01:42there's more to it than just practicing your skills on a cricket field.
01:46There's a lot more to cricket than just cricket skills.
01:49A lot of the game as you go higher and higher is about the mind.
01:53It's the mental side of the game.
01:54You need to understand your personalities as well.
01:57You need to know what makes you succeed.
02:02You need to know what situations you feel nervous in.
02:05You need to understand your personalities.
02:07You need to grow as people.
02:08As much as you're growing as cricketers,
02:10you also need to grow as people.
02:12How you handle failure,
02:13how you handle success,
02:14what is your temperament,
02:16you have to work on these things right from now.
02:19Virat Kohli has as much skills as a lot of other people.
02:22But Virat Kohli is mentally tougher than everyone else.
02:24He knows his game better than everyone else.
02:26And that nobody can teach you.
02:28What is going on in your head, only you know.
02:30Even your coach doesn't know.
02:32Even your parents don't know.
02:33Only you know what you were thinking in the middle there.
02:36Only you know what you're thinking when you're going out to bat.
02:39Only you know which situations put you under pressure.
02:42How do I come out of that?
02:44What do I learn from those situations?
02:45Being given the opportunity to play finals,
02:47to play tournaments like this,
02:49is a privilege.
02:51Are you learning from those experiences?
02:53Or are you just playing the match and going away?
