Multiple murders, each with the same signature: How the police's hunt for a serial-killer led them to one man.

00:00This man was arrested for killing nine women over a span of one year,
00:04and he confessed to killing six of them.
00:14All the victims were in the age group of 45 to 65.
00:17The police said he expressed no remorse and during the investigation,
00:21he referred to the victims as shikar.
00:24This is the story of a serial killer in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
00:27He is not mentally ill, he is focused.
00:29It all started on 5th June 2023, when the first victim's body was discovered.
00:34And by July 2024, in over 13 months,
00:37nine women were found murdered, causing panic among residents.
00:41The victims' bodies were found within a 25-kilometre radius of two police stations,
00:46Dhanashahi and Shishkar police station in Bareilly district.
00:49The police said multiple injuries were found on the victims' bodies
00:53and attempts to sexually assault them were made.
00:56They found a similar pattern.
00:58All the victims were found strangled in sugarcane fields with their clothes ripped.
01:13The Uttar Pradesh police launched a campaign called Operation Talash to find the culprit.
01:18In this operation, 22 teams were formed.
01:21These teams reviewed CCTV cameras and deployed officers
01:25in uniforms and plainclothes to monitor the area and interact with the public.
01:35After speaking to several people from the areas where the murders took place,
01:39the police said that a worker at a tea stall informed them
01:42that a man was bragging about murders he committed while drinking tea.
01:46And he was also mocking the police for not being able to catch him, despite their efforts.
01:51The police then prepared and released three sketches of the suspects on 6 August 2024.
01:57A reward of Rs 25,000 was also offered by the police to catch the killer.
02:01Three days later, 35-year-old Kuldeep Kumar was arrested
02:06as his appearance matched two of the sketches.
02:16The investigation revealed that Kuldeep targeted women who were alone,
02:20working in the field around noon.
02:50During the investigation, it was revealed that Kuldeep had a troubled childhood.
03:00His father married another woman and he was regularly assaulted by his stepmother.
03:04In 2014, he got married to a woman,
03:07but she left him because of his aggressive behaviour and romantic violence.
03:11So the police said that all these incidents in his life fuelled his deep resentment towards women.
03:21The police also said that he would keep the victim's belongings as a trophy after killing them.
03:40Since Kuldeep confessed to six murders,
03:42what about the other three murders which happened in a similar way?
03:51We need to investigate this case in detail.
03:54We request the PCR to investigate this case in detail.
