00:00When it's all about kids, how can I do that without a shirt?
00:03It feels like yesterday, Vicky Doodle happened in April 2012
00:07and now we're in April 2022.
00:14When I was 5.
00:16I think when I watched Kamal Se Kya Matag, I was 4 or 5,
00:19when I decided to be an actor.
00:20And also when I watched Tezaag,
00:22I think that was the first film I watched in theatres.
00:25So that was the time.
00:30In 2004-05, when I was in Rohdees,
00:34that time I was a theatre actor from Chandigarh
00:40who was studying journalism, who was just out of college.
00:44Most of us were nerds in that season.
00:50I started as a reality show contestant
00:52and then became a radio jockey,
00:54then a television presenter and then finally an actor.
01:00My father did not approve of me being an actor as a child.
01:06So he was like, complete your education and then go for it.
01:09During my college days,
01:12I was allowed to do theatre only if I was getting better grades.
01:16I topped my college for 3 years and my attendance was full.
01:20So that was a prerequisite if I had to follow my dreams.
01:23So I think I did the right thing.
01:25But if I had to give one advice to my 13-year-old self,
01:29it would be that, just take it easy.
01:32Because I was too harsh on myself.
01:34I am not a film, baby. I am a serial of Ekta Kapoor.
01:56For me, the story is the real hero of the film, not you.
02:00I really like the power of script more than anything else.
02:02And I was like, okay, I should have happened.
02:04And it gave me a lifeline.
02:10That was a game changer for me.
02:12And I chose scripts which were relevant,
02:15which resonated with people,
02:17which added some value to the society.
02:33I think the best part is that I still feel like an outsider
02:37because that's the gaze that I have towards the industry.
02:41I don't have any friends in the industry.
02:43So nothing has really changed
02:44because I want to maintain that vulnerability
02:47of a small-town aspiring actor.
