00:00Holiday travel season is upon us, and if you're headed to the airport, you've likely got your
00:04travel-sized toiletries all ready to go in those tiny little bottles.
00:07However, experts say that many products you might not consider liquids are by the TSA,
00:12meaning they will get tossed at the gate unless you prepare them accordingly.
00:16You're probably already packing lotions, body washes, and hair care products in the appropriate
00:203.4-ounce bottles.
00:22However, uniformed advisor for TSA security operations, Ari Jenkins, tells HuffPost that
00:27if the product is sprayable or spreadable, it will likely be confiscated as well.
00:31That includes the likes of balms or jellies, sometimes even if they are in stick form.
00:36Luckily, Jenkins notes that more modern powdered skin care products have much broader allowances,
00:41letting passengers take up to 12 ounces of the stuff.
00:43The same goes for skin care masks as well.
00:45But what about duty-free skin care items, those which are often much larger than the
00:49aforementioned 3.4 ounces?
00:52Those are okay.
00:53What isn't okay is bringing unopened packages from home that break the TSA's ouncage rules.
00:58And always remember, even if you have just a little bit of whatever left in the bottle,
01:02security agents go by container size, not liquid volume.
01:05Meaning even if the amount appears to be far under the 3.4 ounces, it will still get confiscated.
