00:00We've heard a lot about how AI will change our daily lives, especially for those whose
00:07livelihoods might just be on the chopping block when artificial intelligence takes it
00:11over.
00:12However, in a truly futuristic society, we can expect AI-powered robots to become more
00:16commonplace.
00:17But what will that really look like?
00:18Well, experts say that even in the last year, mechatronic techniques have improved vastly,
00:23meaning robots can not only be more efficient, but more cost-effective as well.
00:27But director of research at the INRIA Center in France, Serena Ivaldi, saying that the
00:31AI that will power those robots is growing by leaps and bounds as well.
00:35I think with the new AI methods that are now developed in image, that do image processing,
00:41language processing, we're going to see robots that are more and more interactive, that they
00:46can understand our instructions and then translate them into plans, actions.
00:53She adds that rather than having to train these robots to complete tasks, they will
00:56be able to understand instructions and learn on the fly.
00:59Still others, like Agnieszka Wajkowska from the Italian Institute of Technology, say this
01:04will all happen once AI surpasses its current limits and becomes more intelligent and lifelike.
01:10Limits in terms of intelligence, well, I guess at this moment is what I just mentioned, is
01:17being naturally in real time able to respond to the environment, to the human and act in
01:30complex environments like home, for example, or clinical setting like where we are.
01:37So I think this is still a big challenge and we're very far away from making robots fully
01:42autonomous.
01:43The market for humanoid robots is likely to see a boom soon, with Tesla's Elon Musk predicting
01:48there will be more humanoid robots than people on Earth by the year 2040.
