00:30Well, I'm absolutely delighted that we have the marching bands here from the US today.
00:44My department has been involved in the Friendship 4 event which is taking place this weekend
00:49at the SSE Arena in Belfast and whenever I heard that there were marching bands coming
00:54and that they would be there, I thought well why not take the opportunity to bring them
00:57here to Carrickfergus in East Antrim because we have such strong affinity and connections
01:03with the United States through the Rangers Memorial here, through the Andrew Jackson
01:07Cottage and other links that continue to this day.
01:10I'm really keen to promote the United States Northern Ireland connections.
01:14I've set up a cultural working group in that regard so that we can exploit those relationships
01:20and connections but today's really about an opportunity to further those here in Carrickfergus
01:26and to give all of the young people that are here and the residents of this town the
01:30opportunity to join in and to show their appreciation so I'm delighted that I was able to get this
01:36arranged and I think it's going to be a really positive day for the town.
