00:00This morning, at Northern Ireland Office questions, there was not a single MP from Northern Ireland
00:05on the Order Paper. This has happened before. I have no criticism whatsoever of Mr Speaker,
00:12who does try and usually succeeds in getting Northern Ireland MPs in on supplementary
00:17questions. I understand that the numbers game works against us, but can it be reviewed in the
00:23future? For example, I noticed in Scottish questions next week that almost every person
00:28on the Order Paper is actually a Scottish MP, which is as it should be. It would be nice if
00:33occasionally we got a Northern Ireland Office question paper where a Northern Ireland MP was on
00:39it. I thank the Honourable Member for giving notice of his point of order. As he knows,
00:44the selection of substantive questions on the Order Paper is the outcome of a random
00:49shuffle of those Members who actually table a question conducted by the Table Office.
00:55Mr Speaker made sure that a number of Northern Ireland Members were called to ask supplementaries.
01:00Could I suggest to the Honourable Member that he might like to raise this matter
01:04with the Modernisation Committee?
