00:08because of his statements regarding Comelec and Miru's illicit contracts.

00:22In Comelec's 2nd Division resolution, former congressman Edgar Erice was disqualified

00:32in running again as a member of the 2nd District of Caloocan.

00:36This was the decision of Comelec's 2nd Division in the alleged disqualification case

00:41of a man named Raymond Saliput

00:44because of violating Article 22, Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code

00:49which prohibits confusion in the election process

00:53or causing confusion among voters by spreading wrong and alarming information.

01:01This is in line with Erice's various statements in the media,

01:04including the statement that Comelec and Miru's contract is wrong

01:09for the 2025 automated elections.

01:12Just this April, Erice filed a petition to the Supreme Court

01:17requesting the removal of Comelec-Miru's visa.

01:21He also filed a corruption complaint to Ombudsman

01:24against Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, his brother-in-law.

01:28Comelec's 2nd Division said that Erice did not release any evidence in his statements.

01:34Erice will appeal the decision.

01:36He did not violate the provision of the Omnibus Election Code.

01:40I am not violating Section 261Z of the Omnibus Election Code

01:47because the particular provision pertains to violations and offenses

01:53committed during the voting.

01:57The commissioners are just angry with me

02:00because they are getting irritated.

02:03So the real reason why they are disqualifying me

02:08is I think this is a disqualification because of their irritation to my persistence.

02:16Erice said that he did not know the person who filed the case against him.

02:21But he mentioned that Chairman Garcia was close to his opponent in the election in Caloocan.

02:28He did not mention who it was, but he posted a picture of Garcia

02:32with incumbent Congresswoman Mitch Cajayon Uy of the 2nd District of Caloocan.

02:38She is the daughter of Chairman Garcia in-laws.

02:43She is a lawyer. When we fought, Chairman Garcia is a lawyer in the protest.

02:48Uy explained that he has nothing to do with Erice's disqualification case.
