00:00Wollongong Detectives have set up Strike Force New Brigham to investigate a hit and run incident
00:08which occurred out at Ferry Meadow on the 16th of October.
00:12The incident occurred just before 9pm.
00:15We're calling for anyone who may have been in the area, who may have seen a white four
00:19wheel drive utility, which was in the area at the time.
00:22The utility we believe is involved, has got a green canvas up in the back of the canopy.
00:28We also believe that there's a steel tray underneath that canvas.
00:32We believe that Antonio had been out with his son and just completed a driving lesson
00:37with him and was walking home.
00:39He's approached the intersection of Princess Highway and Daisy Street.
00:43He's attempted to cross Daisy Street.
00:44We believe he's got to somewhere near the middle of the roadway on the crossing and
00:48he's been struck by the utility, which I've just mentioned, which we believe has cut the
00:53corner.
00:54Yeah, Antonio, he's a family man.
00:55He cares for his elderly mother.
00:58He's a wonderful man and a wonderful member of the community.
01:00And this is life changing.
01:01He will require medical assistance for the remainder of his life.
01:04It's a terrible thing for anyone to have to go through, and it's a gutless act from a
01:08driver of a car.
01:09I'd encourage the driver of the year to come forward.
01:11We will identify you.
01:13It may take us some time, but we will identify you and we will place you before the court.
