00:00The 7-year prison sentence and the two opportunities given to Syed Sadiq Syed Abdul Rahman

00:07for breach of trust and money laundering are not too much, according to the High Court.

00:13Judge Azhar Abdul Hamid said the court took into account Syed Sadiq's status as a community figure

00:19and a role model for young people when imposing a sentence.

00:23On November 9 last year, Syed Sadiq, who was also a former UN Young Leader,

00:27was found guilty of a breach of trust charge of more than RM1 million owned by the wing

00:34as well as another charge of embezzlement of more than RM120,000, also owned by the UN Young Leader.

00:42He was also found guilty of two charges of money laundering

00:46for transferring a sum of RM100,000 to his personal account from a company,

00:51Armada Bumi Bersatu Enterprise, associated with the UN Young Leader.

00:56The judge said the court could not accept Syed Sadiq's decision

01:00that he never instructed the officials to issue the RM1 million

01:05and denied he knew about it.
