00:00It is expected that the dispute between the Philippines and South Korea will intensify.
00:04This is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. pointed out in the turnover ceremony
00:09of the Greenhouse and Post Harvest Facility in Lucban, Quezon.

00:20Joshua, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the turnover ceremony of the Greenhouse and Post Harvest Facility
00:29which is a project of the Korea Partnership for Innovation of Agriculture or KOPIA
00:34of the South Korean government for the farmer beneficiaries here in Lucban, Quezon.
00:42Before the program, the President selected the plants inside the Greenhouse and Post Harvest Facility
00:47where the high yield vegetables such as cucumber, romaine lettuce, and french beans are planted
00:53that are sold by the farmers.
00:55In his turnover, the President said that the Greenhouses and Post Harvest Facilities
01:01can help small communities to improve their ability to export their products.
01:06The President also said that the dispute between the Philippines and South Korea
01:11will intensify through market access for agricultural products of the country,
01:16particularly tropical fruits such as pineapple and banana due to the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement.
01:22President Marcos thanked the South Korean government for their continued support.
01:27We are also thankful to the Republic of Korea for the overwhelming support of your National Assembly
01:35for the ratification of our FTA which came much earlier than we had expected.
01:41You have reinforced our call for a brighter and more sustainable future for all.
01:46According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Chu Laurel Jr.,
01:50the so-called project is in line with the needs of the agricultural sector.
01:54It also plays a major role in the success of the project despite the threat of climate change.
02:00This greenhouse represents more than just infrastructure.
02:04It symbolizes innovation, hope, and power of collaboration
02:08as we work together to uplift the lives of our farming communities.
02:13It reflects our collective vision of sustainable farming that embraces modern solutions
02:18and adapts to the ever-evolving needs of the sector.
02:21Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-hwa also shared South Korea's plan
02:27to build the country's first Korea Agricultural Machinery Industrial Complex
02:32which will start next year.
02:34According to Ambassador Lee, 4,000 metric tons of rice from South Korea
02:39will arrive in the Philippines through the ASEAN Plus-T Emergency Rice Reserve.
02:44All of these rice will be transported to the country today
02:47while the remaining rice will possibly arrive in the country in January of next year.
02:52For Lukban Mayor Agustin Villaverde, this event is historic
02:57and he thanked the farmers.
02:59Although we can say that the industry of agriculture in Lukban is prosperous,
03:05we also need to follow the changing times.
03:10To make this year even more prosperous,
03:12our farmers should have more knowledge and technology
03:19so that the rice and rice fields will have a higher income.
03:25The villages of Sinaloan in Laguna and Saragosa in Nueva Ecija
03:31are also among the pilot villages of COPEA in the country.
03:34COPEA is the Official Development Assistance Program of the Rural Development Administration
03:39which is the largest agricultural research and development organization in South Korea.
03:44It facilitates the transfer of Korean agriculture technology
03:48to farmers from developing countries like the Philippines
03:52who can help increase their income,
03:54market their high-value crops to improve and sustain their livelihood
03:59so that they can be self-sufficient.
04:04Joshua, 8 clean houses, 1 seedling nursery,
04:081 post-harvest facility,
04:10including financial assistance, technical support,
04:13and other needs of the farmers.
04:16Up to 2,000 farmers here in Lukban, Quezon
04:21will benefit from these facilities.
