00:00The newest way to get around Sydney quickly became a roaring success, but some believe
00:12the government needs to pick up the pace and fill in the gaps out west.
00:17We're excited by the new Metro projects that have been developed, but at the moment Metro
00:21is only servicing one side of Sydney, it's not the side of Sydney that's actually growing
00:26and growing fast.
00:27Advocates are pushing for a plan which would change that.
00:31Three new Metro lines are already under construction.
00:34The Metro West project, the extension of the Sydney Metro to Bankstown, and the Western
00:40Sydney Airport line.
00:42The proposal would fast-track three new extensions, creating a link through Sydney's north-west
00:49and south-west.
00:51Business cases have already been developed for the idea, but there's been no commitment
00:56or funding allocated.
00:58It's where the next generation of jobs and homes and residents are going to be.
01:02A priority shift, residents in St Mary's can get behind.
01:07When you have deadlines and need to be at work at certain times, rather than the congestion
01:11on the main rail network, it's probably easier.
01:14No light rail, nothing going there, overcrowded, the bus is so crowded.
01:18Transport for New South Wales says it's sticking to its current Metro rollout plan, and says
01:24it's working with its federal colleagues on what could come next.
01:28We're conscious that there are elements of the north-west corridor and the south-west
01:32corridor which naturally may look very positively on future Metro extensions.
01:38A glimmer of hope for a chance of better connectivity.
