Emma Hayes has defended the fans' right to boo USWNT player Korbin Albert for her sharing an anti-LGBTQ+ post
Transcript
00:00Yeah, of course I understand the booing and everybody who's entitled to their
00:04opinions on it without doubt. My job is not to weigh in on the
00:10debate. My job is, one, I'm a football coach to produce a football team and
00:16Corbyn being a player within that, like I always do, I've sat down with her, I've
00:22had several conversations with her in and around these things to make sure
00:26that self-development piece is there. But there have been opportunities for
00:30Corbyn to be interviewed about this post-game and maybe, you know, people
00:34haven't asked the questions and even at the Olympics she has. So I think, you know,
00:39Corbyn's someone who, you know, she, no one's gonna enjoy that but you have to
00:46appreciate that there is a community that support our team and everybody
00:51wants to feel that, I know for me, we create an environment that's not just a
00:56conclusive, respectful and tolerant, which I do do, but I cannot control what
01:02happens outside our environment and I'm sure when the moment comes and
01:07Corbyn's asked about it, then it's for her to address, not for me. But I
01:12totally appreciate, you know, the fans doing that and they're entitled to do that.
