00:00The Maroc welcomes the 21st edition of the International Film Festival in Marrakech.

00:36The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People was commemorated yesterday,
00:40a celebration held in a particularly painful context, according to the United Nations.
00:48The project of the new constitution in Gabon, adopted at 91.64% of the votes,
00:53confirmed by the Constitutional Court of Transition.
00:56We meet again right away for the development.
01:03Welcome, ladies and gentlemen.
01:04Without further ado, we start this edition with the International Film Festival in Marrakech.
01:24The 7th Art in Honor in Morocco, the curtains, rather,
01:28opened on the 21st edition of the International Film Festival in Marrakech,
01:33placed under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
01:37This new edition opened in great pomp,
01:41with the traditional parade and the prestigious guests of the festival
01:46and the emblematic figures of Moroccan and international cinema.
01:50Many stars waved the red carpet under the acclamations of the public
01:55and the objectives of dozens of paparazzi.
02:11During the official broadcast of the International Film Festival in Marrakech,
02:16our special envoy, Ilham Berada,
02:18met with Melita Toscan, director and advisor to the President of the Foundation
02:24and to Ali Haji, general coordinator of the festival
02:28and member of the Selection Committee on the strengths and novelties of this edition.
02:35It's been a great year, in terms of programming,
02:40films, but also personalities.
02:44As you can see, this year we have 15 film lessons.
02:47It's the only festival in the world that has two film lessons per day.
02:52Even at the Cannes Film Festival, they only have two or three in 15 days.
02:57We have two per day.
02:59This is a novelty.
03:02We have a lot of things.
03:04We have the Cinema Avenue, which will be magnificent with animations.
03:09We have the Maiden Theatre, where the film lessons will take place.
03:14We also have the Critical Workshops,
03:16where we will also, with a very large international film critic,
03:20help all these young people who want to become film critics.
03:25A lot of novelties to help young people here in Morocco,
03:31in the Middle East and in Africa.
03:33This year, we have a selection of a great diversity, with films of all genres.
03:37We will present 71 films from 32 countries.
03:40As I said, there is a great diversity of films.
03:44We will find drama, comedy, romantic comedy,
03:49police films, thrillers, political documentaries.
03:52There is a great diversity,
03:55to include all audiences at the festival this year.
04:00I also remind you that almost all film screenings
04:03are presented by the film teams.
04:06They travel to Marrakech to meet the festival audience.
04:10Often, we also organize debates at the end of the screenings.
04:14I really invite spectators to come and attend this festival,
04:18which is open and free.
04:20I remind you, you just have to go to the festival's website
04:23to request an accreditation,
04:25to be able to access all the screenings
04:27and the festival's various activities.
04:37International Day of Solidarity
04:43The United Nations commemorated yesterday
04:45the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.
04:49A celebration held in a particularly painful context,
04:52this day gives the international community
04:55the opportunity to focus its attention
04:58on the fact that the question of Palestine is not yet resolved
05:02and that the Palestinian people do not yet enjoy their inalienable rights
05:06as defined by the General Assembly.
05:11On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people,
05:15Morocco reiterated in Addis Ababa
05:18its constant solidarity with this brotherly people.
05:22The kingdom is committed to establishing
05:25an independent Palestinian state on the borders
05:29of 1967 with Al-Quds as its capital.
05:33Details are with Soheil Jalil.
05:36Ending the aggression,
05:38obtaining justice for the victims
05:40and supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
05:44So many appeals launched by several diplomats
05:46accredited to Addis Ababa,
05:48representatives of UN agencies and other personalities,
05:52in the face of the atrocity of continuous violations,
05:55violation of all humanitarian, legal and moral principles,
05:58the Palestinian people no longer only needs solidarity and sympathy,
06:02but rather to recover its right to self-determination
06:06and to end the occupation.
06:12I would like to recall the firm position of the African Union in relation to Palestine.
06:16First, we condemn the war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupier
06:20who occupied Gaza.
06:22Then, we call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
06:26We also call for talks that will ultimately
06:29cover up the Palestinian people's legitimate,
06:32inalienable and prescribable rights.
06:34Also, after having accomplished these objectives,
06:37we call on the international community to join its efforts
06:40to fix the fate of the Palestinians.
06:47In an interview,
06:48the Moroccan ambassadress in Ethiopia, Djibouti Nzahalewi-Mhamdi,
06:52emphasized that a true peace in the Middle East
06:54must guarantee the Palestinians their legitimate rights
06:57as part of the two-state solution
06:59in the face of the tragic situation in Gaza.
07:11I would like to recall the message addressed by the sovereign
07:13President of the United Nations Committee
07:15for the exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people,
07:18Mr. Sheikh Niang,
07:19on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity
07:22with the Palestinian people.
07:24A message in which His Majesty emphasized
07:26that the Kingdom of Morocco reaffirms the need
07:28to achieve an immediate and sustainable ceasefire
07:31in the Gaza Strip
07:32and the cessation of repeated attacks
07:34targeting the peaceful populations in
07:36Sijordani and al-Quds
07:38and to ensure the protection of civilians
07:40on all Palestinian territories
07:42and to prevent them from being targeted
07:44and to put them at risk of death.
07:46The sovereign also indicated that the Kingdom
07:48insists on the need to proceed
07:50without conditions or reservations
07:52to an immediate and permanent opening
07:54of all points of passage,
07:55to preserve, reinforce and support
07:57the mission of the Office of Rescue
07:59and the work of the United Nations
08:01for the refugees of Palestine in the Middle East,
08:03to refuse all movement of Palestinian citizens
08:06and to ensure the total respect of international law
08:09and humanitarian international law
08:11and to launch serious and constructive negotiations
08:14to revive the peace process
08:16in accordance with the resolutions
08:18of the United Nations and international law.
08:24On the eve of the Day of Solidarity,
08:26the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco
08:28organized an exhibition illustrating
08:30the role of King Mohammed VI
08:32as President of the Al-Quds Committee
08:34in the support and promotion of the rights
08:36of the Palestinian people,
08:38recalling that the International Day of Solidarity
08:40of Palestine traditionally offers
08:42to the international community
08:44the opportunity to focus its attention
08:46on the fact that the question of Palestine
08:48is not yet settled
08:50and that the Palestinian people do not yet enjoy
08:52its inalienable rights,
08:54namely the right to self-determination
08:56without external interference,
08:58the right to independence and national sovereignty
09:00and the right of Palestinians to return
09:02to their homes where they have been displaced.
09:06Psychosis haunts the daily lives
09:08of the Palestinian people.
09:10Gaza has fallen into anarchy,
09:12according to the UN,
09:14after its last visit to the Palestinian territories.
09:16The UN's Human Rights Office
09:18described the situation
09:20in the city of Gaza as horrible,
09:22with thousands of displaced people
09:24living in inhumane conditions.
09:26Israeli attacks killed
09:28more than 44,330 people
09:30in Gaza,
09:32most of them civilians.
09:34At this time,
09:36the UN's Human Rights Office
09:38in the Palestinian territories
09:44Every time I visit Gaza,
09:46the level of destruction
09:48is overwhelming.
09:50This time I was particularly
09:52alarmed by the prevalence
09:54of hunger.
09:56After 13 months of
09:58incessant violence,
10:00the death threat by hunger,
10:02disease or bombing is real.
10:04Local markets are non-existent.
10:06The UN has not been able
10:08to take any humanitarian aid
10:10into northern Gaza,
10:12where around 70,000 people
10:14have been rejected
10:16by humanitarian convoys.
10:22This time in Lebanon,
10:24Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
10:26threatened an intensive war
10:28in the event of a violation
10:30of the Treaty with Hezbollah.
10:32In force, the bay is already
10:34put to the test.
10:36The Israeli army had announced
10:38a few hours earlier that it had
10:40carried out an air strike
10:42against a Hezbollah facility
10:44in southern Lebanon,
10:46the first since the beginning
10:48of the truce.
10:50The Lebanese army,
10:52which began deploying
10:54armed troops in the south of the country,
10:56accused Israel of having
10:58repeatedly violated
11:00human rights.
11:02The Syrian Observatory
11:04for Human Rights
11:06carried out a large-scale offensive
11:08in the north-east of the country
11:10that killed more than 270 people.
11:12The Syrian Observatory
11:14for Human Rights
11:16killed 24 civilians,
11:18including 19,
11:20in Russian air strikes
11:22allied with the regime
11:24on rebel zones.
11:26The UN Humanitarian Affairs Office
11:28has been called to a meeting
11:30on Thursday.
11:32We continue with the international.
11:34Canadian Prime Minister
11:36Justin Trudeau
11:38came to Florida yesterday
11:40for a meeting with Donald Trump
11:42about the tariffs imposed
11:44by the US President
11:46on Canadian products.
11:48It is important to understand
11:50that when Donald Trump
11:52made such statements
11:54and was going to put them into practice,
11:56had threatened at the beginning of the week to impose, as soon as it invests in January 2025,
12:0125% customs rights on all Canadian and Mexican products
12:07if these two countries fail to control the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs
12:12arriving in the United States across their borders.
12:17Back on the continent, the project of the new constitution in Gabon,
12:21submitted to the referendum on November 16,
12:25has been adopted by an overwhelming majority of 91.64% of the votes
12:31according to the Constitutional Court of Transition.
12:34The final results confirm the victory of the United States
12:36with 381.581 votes against 34,802 votes for the no
12:45declared by the President of the Constitutional Court of Gabon.
12:50After the adoption of the constitution, the next step is the revision of the electoral code
12:54for the holding of a presidential election scheduled for August 2025.
13:01Transform the lessons learned from past health crises into investment strategies,
13:07integrate research and innovation into health systems
13:11to ensure sustainable resilience in the face of future crises,
13:15two goals long debated during panels
13:19during the 16th edition of the Forum of the South Médèse
13:22and on which Faye Saraboche and Sheyma Fikri give us the outline.
13:30Covid-19, Ebola, M-Pox, global health crises
13:34continue to aggravate and embed themselves
13:37in broader international concerns.
13:40Achieving universal health sovereignty
13:44has become increasingly obvious.
13:47Recent pandemics have highlighted critical gaps
13:50in the health systems of the entire world,
13:53revealing vulnerabilities that have considerable economic,
13:56social and environmental consequences.
14:01Health is a right and what I defend as a humanitarian NGO
14:05is that the fight against inequality is one of the best ways
14:10to ensure that access to health for all is a reality.
14:14We know that there are basic public health principles.
14:17The more health gaps there are in a population,
14:21the worse the overall state of health will be.
14:23So if there is any interest that for everyone,
14:26for a country, access to health is the best,
14:29then we must fight against inequalities.
14:32Long-term solutions are vital,
14:35thanks to strategic investments
14:37that not only improve the infrastructure of health care,
14:41but also promote greater national autonomy
14:45in public health management.
14:47Investment in health must go beyond short-term solutions.
14:51It must support sustainable policies
14:54that stimulate research, innovation
14:57and training of health professionals.
15:00We see that there are still things to do,
15:03especially on the continent.
15:05It is the human resources first,
15:07because there is a shortage of human resources,
15:10and so we will have to train more,
15:13with better quality,
15:15adapted to current technologies and new diseases.
15:18The second point is prevention.
15:20Prevention that will reduce
15:24both expenses and the number of diseases by almost 40%.
15:28And finally, research.
15:30You have two types of research.
15:32There is the commonly classical research,
15:35the one that comes to mind,
15:37and the biomedical one,
15:39the one that makes the great discoveries in the world.
15:43Giving priority to the local production of medicines
15:46and essential medical equipment
15:49is a crucial step
15:50to reduce dependence on global supply chains.
15:55Countries must now put in place
15:56more resilient health systems
15:59that offer more suitable and equitable solutions
16:02to the needs of diverse populations.
16:05By transforming international solidarity
16:07into tangible action,
16:08it becomes vital to create a world
16:11where each country can guarantee access
16:13to quality health care for its citizens,
16:16while being prepared to face future health challenges.
16:23In Tunisia, the NAWAT Association for Citizen Action
16:26launched a discussion on the role of civil society.
16:30Participants confirmed that there is a political will
16:34behind the decline of the role of associations
16:37in the face of what they call the growing populist tendency
16:40in the country of Tunisia.
16:42Nozwa Bechar has more details.
16:46What is the role of civil society
16:48after the presidential elections in 2024?
16:51A question raised by many activists
16:53of civil society in Tunisia,
16:55who have denounced the growing decline of their role
16:59since President Reza Saeed
17:01took office.
17:04The decline of the role of civil society in Tunisia
17:08was motivated by the political will
17:10to dry up the sources of all intermediary organizations.
17:14The political parties were first targeted,
17:16then the organizations of civil society.
17:19The president's approach was clear from the start,
17:23as long as he linked the work of civil society
17:25to external financing and money laundering.
17:28What we see today
17:30is that the work of civil society
17:32is progressively restricted,
17:34either by legislation
17:36or by the trials that have affected many activists
17:39of civil society.
17:43With the current political system
17:45and the rise of political populism,
17:47the role of associations has diminished.
17:50There is also a campaign
17:52aimed at demonizing the role of civil society.
17:56The director of the Kawakibi Center
17:58for Democratic Transitions
18:00has revealed that the number of organizations in Tunisia
18:03is also between 7,000 and 8,000 associations,
18:06of which only 180 associations are active.
18:13The reality of civil society today is frightening.
18:17Some associations are subject to judicial proceedings.
18:21Despite this, civil society is called
18:24to continue its activities,
18:26to monitor government structures
18:30and to try to find solutions to all problems.
18:34President Kays Saayed,
18:36who suspects that the world of associations
18:38serves the interests of foreign forces,
18:40in the context of his fight against money laundering
18:44and the financing of terrorism,
18:46has placed non-governmental organizations
18:49under the control and supervision of the Ministry of the Interior,
18:53while limiting its financial resources.
18:56According to the activists of civil society,
18:58these measures threaten the loss of about
19:0130,000 direct jobs and up to 100,000 indirect jobs.
19:07And that's it for this edition.
19:08Thank you for following.
