Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is considering legal action against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the bank involved over the prolonged freezing of its accounts, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Speaking at a press conference during the party’s annual general meeting on Sunday (Dec 1), the Bersatu president described the situation as "unlawful and an abuse of power."

He highlighted that the party’s accounts have remained frozen beyond the legal 12-month limit, despite no charges being filed, adding that Bersatu’s efforts to open new bank accounts have also been blocked, preventing the party from managing its finances effectively.

00:00I would like to say thank you to all the members of parliament who are still healthy and active in this country.
00:46However, our lawyers have briefed us and stated that one of our demands for our accounts to be handed over to us again,
00:58to be re-activated, is to comply with the law.
01:05Which is related to the fact that they can only hold it for 12 months.
01:13That is not appropriate.
01:15But after 12 months, they still freeze the accounts.
01:21They don't sitar, but freeze the accounts for no reason.
01:26We believe that this is an act that violates the law.
01:32In fact, it is seen as a misuse of power.
01:35What should not be done by law,
01:38is that any agency, including the SPRM, cannot violate the law.
01:43Therefore, our demands in this court are justified.
01:47Because as an organization, we are not subject to any punishment or charged.
01:55BESATU has never been charged for any wrongdoing.
01:59My question is different.
02:01BESATU is an organization.
02:03And as a large political organization,
02:06how are we going to live if the government acts like this?
02:11Even if there is a media club and the accounts are closed,
02:15you people cannot do anything.
02:17And you can't survive.
02:19This party is smart.
02:22Even if there is no money, we still have to collect a little.
02:25Aren't we ashamed?
02:27DB told us earlier how you have to collect from members.
02:31And in the end, we are able to pay for our collection here.
02:36It costs us about RM400,000 to do that.
02:39It's not cheap.
02:40So how are we going to manage our accounts?
02:43If our accounts are valid, they cannot be used.
02:47Even if we want to open a new account,
02:49it cannot be used.
02:51It cannot be verified.
02:52That is very bad.
02:55For me, that is an act that violates the law.
03:00And that is why it cannot be continued.
03:12We have been thinking about it.
03:14We had a discussion with a lawyer the other day.
03:16We agreed to take action against the SPRM.
03:20Because they are the one who directed the bank
03:23that is ready to issue an account request for us to use.
03:27They did not allow it.
03:29After that, they wanted to open a new account.
03:31They did not allow it.
03:33This is cruel.
03:34So we feel it's not fair.
03:37I have discussed it with the lawyers.
03:41We can take action against the authorities
03:45who are responsible.
03:46And secondly, we can take action against the bank
03:49that cannot issue an account request.
03:52Our expenses cannot be paid.
