00:14As the Philippine Olympian, Nesty Petesio, will receive a special award on the upcoming edition of the Club Youth Awards this December.
00:26Petesio will also receive the Sports Idol Award because of his unwavering inspiration to the young athletes.
00:34Just like when he served as a coach in a grassroots boxing event in his hometown of Davao de Oro, Camacaylan.
00:41As the two-time Olympic medalist, he just followed his father's footsteps, who also inspired him.
00:49It's a great feeling to share what I know about being a national athlete and a boxer.
00:57My father was a coach and I was just a kid.
01:01That's when I started with my father.
01:03That's when he inspired me.
01:06He's one of the reasons why I'm where I am today.
01:09Because of his dedication, he can see himself in the young athletes.
01:13That's why he doesn't lose the will to help them.
01:18That's how I started in the inter-barangay.
01:20It's great to see young people like him starting.
01:25After winning his second medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics,
01:30the Davaoian boxer returned to training to prepare for the upcoming international boxing competitions,
01:37such as the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.
