00:00Good morning, Ty Law.
00:02Good morning, guys. Good morning.
00:04I gotta say, I appreciate
00:06the opinions and the banter
00:08over the hit, but come on,
00:10Wiggy, we've seen a lot harder hits than that
00:12in our day, man.
00:14I agree, and we talked to Jelani,
00:16and I said this before, I never played
00:18defense, but I can only imagine how
00:20difficult it is because these quarterbacks
00:22wait for the last minute. That's why I said
00:24my rule, Ty, it would
00:26be that once you get outside the
00:28pocket, if you ain't sliding,
00:30you have like a five-yard halo.
00:32Get down, because if you don't get down early,
00:34you are fair game.
00:36Exactly. Fair game.
00:38And I say, leading with the forearm
00:40and everything, I get it. Repeat offender,
00:42you don't want to hurt anybody, but
00:44this is football, and
00:46the hit wasn't that bad.
00:48You know what I mean? I've seen a lot worse than that.
00:50Dude, he was in the fencing position.
00:52Like,
00:54how do you defend?
00:56The slide started pretty early.
00:58I'm not trying to
01:00defend it, Greg. I'm just saying the hit
01:02wasn't that bad. You know what I mean? Regardless of
01:04how I went down, whatever position, the hit
01:06that would have been, that hit wasn't that bad.
01:08Well, Curtis,
01:10Curtis was showing us a
01:12video, and I believe we played it on Twitch yesterday,
01:14of Brady getting his head knocked off.
01:16When you guys were in Buffalo,
01:18Clements came up and nailed Brady
01:20right in the head, and he got up.
01:22But Brady bounced right back up. If Trevor Lawrence
01:24was right back up, we don't have
01:26an issue. People would still be talking about it.
01:28Trevor Lawrence didn't bounce
01:30right back up because the deep
01:32recesses of his brain were malfunctioning.
01:34That's why he didn't bounce right back up.
01:36Sometimes it happens, Greg.
01:38Hey, Greg,
01:40you know what the problem is now?
01:42Again,
01:44I respect protecting the players,
01:46so safety
01:48first. But we call
01:50that getting your bell rung, man.
01:52They call it concussion nowadays.
01:54We call it getting your bell rung,
01:56get your ass up, you see little stars,
01:58find your way back to the huddle,
02:00play ball. Yeah, the good old days.
02:02Exactly.
02:04But Ty, the league can't start
02:06saying we care about player safety
02:08and want to be protecting the players more than
02:10the era in which you and Wiggy played, and then
02:12just give them a three-game suspension for something like that.
02:14Yeah,
02:16three-game suspension, I think that, I mean,
02:18usually, when they say
02:20suspension, that's three games
02:22without pay. That's a lot of
02:24damn money for a hit.
02:26It's going to make you play a little tentative.
02:28You can't do nothing
02:30because they're going to take your money.
02:32Now, does he deserve it?
02:34Is he a repeat offender? Is he
02:36like a
02:38Draymond in the NFL? I don't
02:40know. Yeah, he's a repeat offender.
02:42Well, I think that's got to be
02:44the new rule change, is just give yourself
02:46up way early.
02:48Well, I think things have to
02:50change because you now know,
02:52and maybe you didn't earlier,
02:54what some of the effects of a
02:56concussion are. Oh, no, that's part
02:58of it. Long-term. I mean,
03:00Ty, you get that, right?
03:02No, I know.
03:04I totally get that. I mean, I'm just saying
03:06I agree with it because, hell,
03:08I can't remember nothing now.
03:10I had plenty of them. Have you heard Wiggy
03:12on the show? I mean,
03:14you understand what the effects of a concussion
03:16are. I was in the trenches, so
03:18we battled in those trenches.
03:20But a guy, and we talk about this
03:22all the time, when you see a quarterback sliding
03:24and he has plenty of
03:26time where he is already outside
03:28the pocket, you can
03:30make that. The problem is they
03:32want to get that little extra yard, and
03:34we talked to Jelani to buy about.
03:36Just give yourself up
03:38way earlier, or what
03:40I said is dive head first, and sometimes
03:42it's a little bit easier, but you've got to
03:44give yourself up early.
03:46Speaking of Ty, speaking of Jelani,
03:48he was on with us
03:50at 730 this morning,
03:52and I asked him this question, and his
03:54answer, I guess, was
03:56you know, the details,
03:58we're not executing it, paying attention to details.
04:00When you look at this defense and
04:02the fall off from last year, what
04:04do you see as the main issues?
04:10I can look across, but one,
04:12it's the cohesion.
04:14They don't always play together,
04:16especially in key situations.
04:18They're not on the same
04:20page. The secondary could be playing
04:22decent, but the guys up front
04:24aren't playing well. The guys up front could be
04:26playing decent, and the secondary is giving
04:28up big chunks of yards,
04:30not covering anyone. I just think
04:32the cohesion
04:34as a whole, for the
04:36defense, where is the leadership?
04:38When Peppers
04:40came back, you know, you're getting somebody being
04:42an aggressor, you know, coming back, but
04:44they have too many holes all over
04:46the place. So, you know, I think
04:48a leadership, in a locked room
04:50leadership, on field leadership,
04:52side room leadership is missing.
04:54Something is missing because they're not always
04:56on the same page. I'm like, when you guys
04:58get off the field, do y'all get together
05:00and talk as a defense? Do you get together
05:02and talk as a secondary, or just go there and sit
05:04there and drink your damn Gatorade? I don't know.
05:06I'm trying to figure it out. I wish they'd put the camera
05:08over there. Because somebody
05:10needs to be talking. Ty, one of
05:12the things that I said to Jelani, because
05:14you know, when you think about little things
05:16and I hear, you know,
05:18not being able to do the little things
05:20right, or making the
05:22mistakes when it comes to
05:24minor things, to me that's a
05:26lack of you putting in
05:28the extra time after practice,
05:30that's a lack of you
05:32focusing in practice. And I
05:34asked Jelani, I said, do you
05:36think that now because practices
05:38are so short, we practice for like four hours
05:40and then guys did 30-40 minutes
05:42of extra work on their own,
05:44do you think that a lot of these guys nowadays
05:46are not putting in
05:48that work when it comes to
05:50being on top of the little things?
05:52I know
05:54they're not putting in the work because you can tell
05:56on the field. I mean,
05:58look at it, man.
06:00The same
06:02mistakes week in and week out, how
06:04long could you use the same excuse?
06:06My thing is practice.
06:08When we didn't have something,
06:10and I know I refer back to
06:12the good old days, the glory days, but
06:14we were winning, we were competitive,
06:16we wouldn't accept that. So, even
06:18when the coaches is gone, we'll call together
06:20as a team, as a
06:22defense. Teddy Bruce, real quick,
06:24Willie McGinnis, real quick, hey, we need to
06:26watch this as a team. All coaches
06:28is out. They need to do some all
06:30coaches out type shit. Y'all coaches don't even
06:32come in here. We got to figure this out.
06:34We have to dump
06:36out of the S-Bomb, and that is
06:38$100
06:40in the swear jar for the
06:42Greg Hill Foundation. We appreciate that.
06:44Absolutely. I had it out there
06:46on the tailgate, too. We got
06:48a couple dollars, Greg. I saw that.
06:50Yeah, man. We're taking
06:52the swear jar everywhere, and
06:54people are glad to participate.
06:56You got a crisp
06:58$100 bill from Bill
07:00Dolichek. Dollar
07:02dollar bill, as Cam Newton used to
07:04call him.
07:06When it comes to
07:08coaching, though,
07:10you look at
07:12Anthony Richardson, and why
07:14are they just unable to...
07:16His arm is not... He doesn't have a great arm.
07:18Are they unable...
07:20Are they just unable
07:22to basically take
07:24the runaway and make him try to throw
07:26the football, or is that
07:28coaching error when it comes
07:30to the coordinator here?
07:32I mean, I think
07:34it's a coaching
07:36error, I guess, for not knowing
07:38your players and putting them in the right position,
07:40but I don't want to blame the coaches
07:42for that. You guys know that
07:44Anthony Richardson is not a
07:46natural, fluid passer.
07:48You know that because of his weakness.
07:50If I'm going to take my chances,
07:52I'm going to stag the buzz. I'm not going to let you run.
07:54I'm going to make you beat us through the air.
07:56And you still got to play football.
07:58Somebody got to do their job up
08:00front. Somebody got to cover the receiver,
08:02so you can't just put that on the coaches
08:04because they're not out there playing.
08:06That's why I understood where Gerard was coming from.
08:08You just got to word it different when he said what he
08:10said a few weeks ago.
08:12Those guys
08:14figured out and win the one-on-one battle
08:16up front. You know
08:18you know good and damn well
08:20that he is going to run the ball
08:22for a two-point conversion.
08:24It was going nowhere but the quarterback.
08:26Everybody should be running up there.
08:28Somebody got to win and that's what I don't
08:30like about the defense
08:32when it comes to making excuses
08:34talking about we got to close out. Whatever their
08:36excuses are, you know that we're not playing
08:38this, the little things.
08:40Do you call tackling a little thing in football?
08:42No. Hell no.
08:44That's huge.
08:46Ty, I'd like to make you smile
08:48this morning because there's been a lot of negative Patriots
08:50stuff and your good friend
08:52in mind, Jermaine Wiggins,
08:54defended Ohio State
08:56and complained about Michigan
08:58planting the flag at the horseshoe
09:00after beating Ohio State
09:02as a three-touchdown underdog.
09:04The floor is yours, Ty.
09:06Great win and what do you think about the postgame stuff?
09:08Man, you know what?
09:10I will say
09:12even though it's Ohio State,
09:14we got to handle that one better. I don't think
09:16that it's a good look by doing that
09:18but the rival
09:20did not see that coming.
09:22When we're class, that's all I'm saying.
09:24I look at it like this.
09:26I look at it like this because
09:28it could have been a lot worse.
09:30Now, is it part of the game?
09:32The only way you stop somebody from
09:34dancing or playing that flag
09:36is you win. You had all this
09:38time to fight four quarters.
09:40You could fight legally
09:42but when Michigan, when you go out there
09:44and plant the flag, you're asking for trouble.
09:46That's like going
09:48to the hood. You ain't from the hood.
09:50Everybody know you. Now, Michigan, you got
09:52a lot of football players out there but guess what?
09:54They got the whole fans, their football team.
09:56They got the whole state of Ohio.
09:58Talk trash
10:00and plant the flag on the way out to the airport
10:02while you're at the airport. You know what I mean?
10:04You don't do that because somebody could have got really hurt.
10:06I look at it like that.
10:08I ain't no tough guy
10:10in that situation.
10:12Somebody could have got hurt but
10:14they lost. They mad.
10:16What's that? Four in a row?
10:18Now? You know, Sherone Moore,
10:20guess what? He done saved his job.
10:22Now, they talk about
10:24firing him one day because
10:26hell, he done lost one game, two
10:28games because he can't beat Michigan.
10:30That tells you the magnitude
10:32of that game. You know what I mean?
10:34The underdog,
10:36the 20 points, that was flat
10:38out disrespectful. That was more
10:40disrespectful than when they gave us
10:42a 12-point underdog in the Super Bowl.
10:44That is disrespectful.
10:46The other team isn't even supposed to show up.
10:48This is Michigan-Ohio State.
10:50You can't do that.
10:52This is what we do
10:54in the big blue. Yeah, we did have a great season.
10:56A lot of turnover but guess what?
10:58We beat Ohio State.
11:00Season.
11:02Listen,
11:04great game by Michigan.
11:06Take nothing away from them.
11:08My thing is the trash talking
11:10before the game, during the game, that's going to happen
11:12but I just like the whole
11:14planting the flag at the end, it's just like
11:16you won the game, win with class, you want to
11:18talk trash like you said on social
11:20media after the fact because
11:22all it does is lead to giant melees
11:24which will all over college football
11:26because of stupid wanting to plant
11:28the flags in the middle of
11:30the opponents or at the opponent's
11:32stadium. Ty, do you think Mike Vrabel could be
11:34the coach at Ohio State? Do you think that'd be something he'd like
11:36to do? Man, I don't
11:38know if it was
11:40a
11:42dream. I mean, I was like, you know what?
11:44Mike Vrabel's about to be on deck.
11:46He's about to be on deck at Ohio State
11:48and that's my guy, you know,
11:50and guess what? If he do go,
11:52I'm still
11:54I ain't rooting for his ass
11:56from Michigan on that week.
11:58I'll tell you that but I think
12:00that he will be the next
12:02man up and ultimately probably where he wants
12:04to be anyway. You know, I mean, he got
12:06his coaching started, he was there for a long
12:08time and he worked his way up the ranks to be a head
12:10coach at NFL but to go back
12:12to Ohio State, they might
12:14need a boost like that. Somebody
12:16that had the success that he's had in coaching
12:18and as a player, you know?
12:20I mean, that's where it's like
12:22it's going there. Now, a lot of
12:24guys that played the game at a high level are
12:26going into coaching. Does that make better
12:28results? I don't know but something like
12:30Ohio State when, you know,
12:32he might not know the magnitude
12:34of the Michigan-Ohio
12:36State because he just heard about it.
12:38Mike Rabel lived it.
12:40So, it would be very important
12:42for him to, if he goes
12:44there, A, it ain't national
12:46championship. We circling
12:48Michigan at the end of the day.
12:50At the beginning of the season. We're circling
12:52Ohio State. I don't know if I understand
12:54your perspective on planting
12:56the flag. I understand Wiggy's because
12:58he suffers from PTSD
13:00when Durfee planted the flag on
13:02the Brockton field.
13:04No, no, no.
13:06Because, like
13:08Ty.
13:10No, no, no.
13:12Because like you said, Ty.
13:14It was actually planted right into
13:16his foot. No. Because like Ty
13:18said, if you plant the...
13:20A young freshman from Durfee did it.
13:22I gave those kids a green light at Brockton.
13:24If you plant the flag on our home turf,
13:26A, green light.
13:28That's go time.
13:30Well, that's the way I'm
13:32where I'm from.
13:34I think that was also
13:36the nickname you gave your defense.
13:38Green light. We're going to be waiting at that.
13:40I guarantee you.
13:42We're going to be waiting for you at the buses.
13:44And Wiggy usually loves plants.
13:46And I'm not, you know, listen. I'm not
13:48one that's about the violence, but you plant your
13:50flag. We're going to be waiting for you at the
13:52buses.
13:54You've been neutralized. Gosh. What?
13:56What, Ty?
13:58See, like when I played,
14:00you know what they did one time? It was district
14:02but it wasn't planting your flag. We were
14:04the last game to go to the Rose Bowl.
14:06That was it. The Big Ten champs should go to Rose Bowl.
14:08They come in. Everybody had
14:10roses in their mouth. They walk on
14:12our thing and they already got roses.
14:14They got bouquets and shit in their head.
14:16Okay.
14:18So that gives us
14:20a little bit more motivation, but
14:22you know, I can see if they came in there and tried
14:24to plant a flag, even though we
14:26won or before the game or after the game,
14:28you know, it's 110,000
14:30people ready to go out there and fight because they've been
14:32drinking. The kids is rowdy and
14:34hyped up, man. Somebody could have got hurt.
14:36So I just think it was a bad
14:38decision. It was
14:40it wasn't classless because of the Michigan
14:42Ohio State rivalry, but I don't think it was
14:44smart. You know what I mean? And you know,
14:46it's better ways to go about it like Ohio State
14:48did. Come in with your roses. Get
14:50the message. Be confident and go
14:52home. And now they all wilted and dead
14:54because y'all not going to the
14:56Rose Bowl no more. You know what I mean?
14:58When Wiggy's team lost to
15:00Andover, one of the Andover kids had to help
15:02plant the flag right next to
15:04Wiggy. No, we had the
15:06switch called
15:08the boogie down
15:10Brockton beat down.
15:12If you disrespected us, the switch
15:14went up and it was green light time.
15:18You know, when you start
15:20fighting like that,
15:22they're going to take it as
15:24I mean,
15:26Ohio State was winning, so they
15:28bitter, but when you fight
15:30and you're losing and you start
15:32fighting, that even looks worse.
15:34Was y'all losing the whole season?
15:36No, no. We never had nobody
15:38disrespect us like that.
15:40Anyway, before you go
15:42Ty, most entertaining play
15:44of the game is brought to you by Apex Entertainment.
15:46Experience the thrills at Apex
15:48Entertainment in Marlborough. What you
15:50got? Or Sean, what do you got?
15:52That Drake May touchdown to
15:54Austin Hooper. Pretty nice throw.
15:56Beautiful, beautiful placement.
15:58Beautiful throw. And again,
16:00I want to praise him. I know we
16:02talked about it
16:04plenty, but Drake May,
16:06he's showing signs. I mean,
16:08still another turnover in there, but
16:10his efficiency and
16:12I'm seeing his nerves. I'm seeing the way
16:14he's managing with the
16:16stuff that he's working with as far as the players,
16:18the running back, you know,
16:20receivers to name of
16:22and working with his tight ends.
16:24He is doing a phenomenal job
16:26as a rookie, and I want to emphasize
16:28as a rookie. You know what I mean?
16:30So I like shout out and props
16:32to Drake May, so hopefully he can
16:34continue to get better. Yeah, I mean,
16:36I don't put that turnover on him.
16:38I mean, I appreciate the
16:40fact that he took credit for it
16:42or put it on himself afterwards
16:44saying that he could have thrown it to the
16:46other shoulder, but Hunter Henry was also
16:48on here yesterday saying he had to catch the ball.
16:50The Christian Gonzalez interception
16:52was pretty nice. That was a nice one.
16:54Yeah, yeah.
16:56Yeah, that was a great
16:58play right there. I mean, the way he closed
17:00on it, you know, I look at the little
17:02stuff like that, you know, closing at the right time,
17:04using his hands,
17:06jumping in front of him, because a lot of guys would have went for the
