05:32If in 2022, the Commission on Audit approved the spending of the Office of the Vice President of its confidential fund,

05:40it came out in the annual audit report of the COA for 2023 that it tripled the next year.

05:47If we compare, Vice President Sara Duterte spent 125 million pesos of confidential fund within 11 days of 2022.

06:00The next year, it jumped to 375 million pesos for the whole year of 2023.

06:07According to the COA report, the confidential expenses are for the safe implementation of various projects and activities

06:15under the Good Governance Program, Socio-Economic Program Delivery,

06:19and official engagements or joining international and domestic events under the order of the President.

06:26According to the COA report, the expenses for domestic and international trips of the Office of the Vice President increased.

06:33In 2022, it spent 20.11 million pesos,

06:38which is equivalent to the amount shared by former Vice President Leni Robredo and current Vice President Sara Duterte.

06:45At the end of 2023, when VP Sara was appointed for the whole year,

06:50the travel expenses tripled to 42.58 million pesos.

06:55The amount of assistance shared by the OVP also increased.

06:59In the Computational GMA Integrated News Research,

07:02it was equivalent to 1.28 billion pesos for the assistance, subsidies, and welfare goods of 2023.

07:10It tripled the expenses of 2022.

07:13According to the COA, the welfare goods are relief goods and food boxes

07:17that are given to the needy like the victims of calamity.

07:21As for the expenses of the OVP,

07:23the Medical Burial Assistance, Hospitals for Medical Assistance Program,

07:28and Medical Physical Examination of OVP Employees and Personnel.

07:32However, the COA observed something in the distribution of welfare goods.

07:37It is not clear if these were distributed due to the lack of guidelines and procedures and control measures of the OVP.

07:45In Davao Satellite Office of VP Sara, there is a lack of inventory,

07:51like food items that are about to expire but have not yet been distributed,

07:56food items in the unventilated shipping container, and others.

08:01According to the report, the OVP used its funds for the socio-economic program delivery.

08:08The accomplishments of the OVP are higher than the target.
