Larry Grayson hosts this edition of The Generation Game from November 21st 1981, where the contestants playing are Doreen Ratcliffe & Joe Riley from Staffordshire and Joyce McCutcheon & John Burke from Portsmouth, and Terry & Fiona Burns from the West Midlands and Bill & Lindy Crockham from Buckinghamshire. Among the games are Philippine Dancing, News Headlines from the years, Guess the Celebrity Baby and Ice a Cake before the final two contestant families face off for a Royal Marines march off. Among the celebrities are Acker Bilk, Norman Vaughan, Barbara Windsor, Frank Carson, Tessa Wyatt and Nicholas Parsons, while Isla St Clair co hosts as Grayson's assistant. The only difference I can define between Bruce Forsythe's version and Larry Grayson is a certain gentleness here, but it is still entertaining viewing. Indeed, it's closely contested at times, with one seemingly hapless contestant proving invaluable in the question tie breaks. But the real star in this is contestant Joyce McCutcheon, who lifts this episode with her enthusiasm.
