00:00The 22-year-old man that admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend was convicted for murder
00:06and sentenced to life in prison.
00:11A small asteroid lit up the sky over Russia's Siberian Republic of Yakutia as it entered
00:17the Earth's atmosphere.
00:20French far-right leader Marine Le Pen said on Tuesday that supporting a no-confidence
00:25vote to remove Prime Minister Michel Barnier is the only way to protect the public.
00:35Belgian police raided property linked to former European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reyndiers.
00:41With local media reporting, he is suspected of money laundering.
00:46For years, Reyndiers reportedly bought lottery tickets through the Belgian National Lottery,
00:52an organisation which he oversaw as minister between 2007 and 2011.
00:59It is alleged that he took part in lottery games and deposited the resulting now laundered
01:04profits into his personal accounts.
01:08Local media report that the investigation had been ongoing for months, that investigators
01:13waited until the end of Reyndiers' term as European Commissioner on Sunday, which also
01:18marked the end of his EU immunity.
01:21One of the properties reportedly raided was Reyndiers' private property, with the former
01:26EU Justice Chief questioned by police until Tuesday evening.
01:35Only hours after it had been in effect, South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yool lifted the
01:40martial law he imposed the night before.
01:44Yoon said his government withdrew military personnel following a bipartisan parliamentary
01:49vote that rejected the law.
02:20Hundreds of protesters had gathered in front of the parliament, waving banners and calling
02:24for Yoon to step down.
02:26Others were seen blocking military vehicles.
02:30Meanwhile, military troops stormed the parliament building.
02:34People inside linked arms and used furniture to create barricades.
02:39Some military personnel were blocked from entering the chamber by lawmakers who sprayed
02:44fire extinguishers at them.
02:47It was reported that police and military personnel were quick to leave parliament grounds
02:51following the vote.
02:57The 22-year-old Italian man, Filippo Turretta, who admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend,
03:02was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
03:06Giulia Cecchettin went missing last November after going to the mall with Turretta.
03:12She was found a week later with more than 70 stab wounds at the bottom of a ditch wrapped
03:16in plastic bags.
03:17It is clear that justice has been done, I respect it, but I think we should do more
03:23as human beings, because we should not be in this moment talking about pain.
03:30I think gender violence should not be fought with pain, it should be fought with prevention.
03:37The case sparked widespread anger in Italy and fuelled demands for action to stop violence
03:42against women.
03:43At the funeral last year, Giulia's father had urged mourners to be agents of change
03:49in a patriarchal culture that he said often undervalues the lives of women.
03:56While Moscow has found a way to produce more drones to attack Ukraine, Kyiv has found a
04:01way to ground them or even send them back at Russia or Belarus.
04:06During one of the recent attacks, almost half of 110 Shahed drones launched at Ukraine were
04:13lost.
04:14Basically, what Ukraine is doing is spoofing, meaning they are feeding in false GPS targets
04:22to these Shahed, or in the Russian term Garan, two drones to make them veer off course.
04:29And so the drones have a system that's supposed to prevent jamming, but what these are doing
04:35is kind of sneaking in and not letting the drone know that the targets are being, the
04:40coordinates are being changed.
04:41It's kind of tricking it to going to the wrong direction.
04:46This can be possible because of the improved electronic warfare interference tactics, he
04:51says.
04:54So Ukraine's ex-top general, Valeriy Zaluzhny, first publicly mentioned the Pokrova system
05:01back in February.
05:03So I think the system has probably improved since then.
05:06And as you noted, the percentage of these Russian Shahed drones that Ukraine claims
05:12to be spoofing has increased over time.
05:16Independent Belarus monitoring group Hayun Project told Euronews that there has been
05:21an increase in the number of Russian drones redirected into Belarus airspace every month.
05:27They reported that 38 Russian Shahed drones entered Belarus airspace on the night of November
05:3424th and 25th, a record number.
05:38Belarus scrambled jets to respond to the airspace violations, suggesting that Minsk was unprepared
05:43to receive errant Russian drones and that Russia had not anticipated the impacts of
05:47Ukrainian interference or communicated them to Belarus in advance.
05:57The Israeli defense minister warns that if the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah
06:02breaks down, Israel will expand its strikes beyond areas where Hezbollah is concentrated
06:08and target the Lebanese state itself.
06:11His comments come as both sides of the conflict accuse the other of violating the ceasefire.
06:18Our policy together with the IDF is clear and unambiguous.
06:27We will act with all our might to suppress all these misunderstandings and this ceasefire
06:37agreement.
06:38And we will be with maximum response and zero tolerance."
06:45Israel largely refrained from striking critical infrastructure of the Lebanese Armed Forces
06:51during the 14-month conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
06:54The war appeared to have come to an end last week after a ceasefire brokered by the United
07:00States and France, but is threatened as attacks continue.
07:08A small asteroid lit up the sky over Russia's Siberian Republic of Yakutia as it entered
07:13Earth's atmosphere.
07:16The European Space Agency said the asteroid was believed to have a diameter of 70 centimeters
07:22and was discovered roughly 12 hours prior to its appearance.
07:27Officials were on alert and said no damage had been reported.
07:36At least three civilians were killed in an airstrike on a hospital in Idlib on Monday,
07:41the Syrian White Helmets, an opposition-run rescue service.
07:46As rebel fighters in Syria continue to advance, government forces have stepped up strikes
07:51on the rebel-held city of Idlib as well as positions in Aleppo.
07:57Insurgents have taken over large parts of Aleppo since Sunday, including its international
08:01airport.
08:04Footage captured by one of the fighters also appears to show them entering a palace believed
08:09to belong to Syrian President Assad.
08:13The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said on Monday that at least 44 civilians,
08:19including 12 children, had been killed in Syria since 26 November.
08:24It added that almost 50,000 people have been displaced, with key infrastructure like schools
08:29and hospitals damaged by airstrikes.
08:36NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said allies need to focus more on delivering military
08:41aid to Ukraine ahead of a two-day summit in Brussels.
08:45But we will all need to do more, especially now.
08:49The stronger our military support to Ukraine is now, the stronger their hand will be at
08:55the negotiating table.
08:57And the sooner we can end Russian aggression once and for all in Ukraine.
09:02He argued that increased military support should take priority over discussions on a
09:06peace deal.
09:07But I would argue, let's not have all these discussions step by step on what a peace process
09:13might look like.
09:14Make sure that Ukraine has what it needs to get to a position of strength.
09:19When those peace talks start, when the Ukrainian government has decided, they are ready to
09:23do so.
09:24Rutte also announced that NATO will boost intelligence sharing and enhance the protection
09:29of critical infrastructure in the face of Russian acts of sabotage against allies.
09:35Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also reiterated his call for his country to
09:39become a NATO member as soon as possible.
09:42Rutte said that the process towards full membership is happening step by step.
09:52French far-right leader Marine Le Pen said on Tuesday in a tweet that supporting a no-confidence
09:57vote to remove Prime Minister Michel Barnier is the only way to protect the public from
10:02a dangerous, unjust and punitive budget under the country's constitution.
10:07Barnier faces a no-confidence vote on Wednesday, likely to topple his fragile government and
10:13raise concerns in the Eurozone.
10:16On Monday, Barnier used a rare constitutional tool to push through his contentious social
10:21security budget without a parliamentary vote, after failing to come to an agreement with
10:26Le Pen's National Rally.
10:28Barnier made last-minute concessions, reducing health care coverage for undocumented migrants
10:34to gain far-right's backing.
10:36Both the National Rally and a left-wing coalition have tabled no-confidence votes against Barnier,
10:42which combined is enough to oust the Prime Minister.
10:51Georgia's Prime Minister denied on Tuesday that his government was turning away from
10:55joining the European Union.
