00:00Um, she refused every time I, uh, I tried.
00:03Yeah.
00:05No, we never met. We had never met.
00:08Uh, the first time we met was at the table read.
00:10That's right. And I was dying to work with Ray Romano for years
00:15because I'd see him and stuff after Raymond and went,
00:18oh, my God, he's such a good actor.
00:20He's effortless. Oh, my God, I would love to work with him.
00:23I bet that'll never happen.
00:25And then this came up and I said,
00:27okay, I don't know if I need to read the script even
00:29because it's, yes, it's Liz Feldman,
00:32Ray, my husband in it, yeah.
00:34Well, I didn't know. I took the job before you were cast in it.
00:38And then they told me and it was just like a bonus. Yeah.
00:42Well, the writing, I mean, the writing was great.
00:44The tone of it.
00:45Uh, I got to play things I've never played before.
00:50There's, you know, it's dark.
00:52It's emotional. It's funny.
00:55I knew her work from, uh, from Dead to Me.
00:58Um, I knew, you know, the tone that she was trying to go for.
01:04It was just all a nice challenge and appealing and, yeah,
01:08it was kind of an easy decision, really.
01:09Yeah. Yeah. I don't have anything to add to that.
01:13And I got to read, I don't know how many scripts you read.
01:15I got to read like five scripts.
01:17Oh, no, I didn't. Before I met her.
01:19And I just, every time the script ended,
01:21I wanted to see the next one.
01:22Yeah. I got concerned.
01:24I read three and felt like, well, okay, but what happened?
01:29And what's my role in it?
01:30Yeah, well, that's, and that's what you want the audience to feel.
01:33Yeah.
01:34Well, my character has a hard time, uh, expressing himself
01:38and he, uh, keeps things bottled up a little.
01:41So I tapped into that pretty easily.
01:44Yeah. He does, he does things that maybe I wouldn't
01:48and he, he probably has more, uh, trouble with anger than I do,
01:53but it's all there. It's all there somewhere.
01:56Yeah. I don't know.
01:57I mean, I always bring something of myself to everything
02:02and I don't need to know exactly what that is.
02:05I know Liz was saying, oh, this is close to you, this one.
02:09And I, you know, it was just like, yep, but I, I don't, maybe, yeah.
02:15But I don't want to know what that is.
