00:00The country's top military officers and the soldiers under their command are solidly committed
00:04to their sworn duties to follow the chain of command and keep the duly constituted authority
00:09intact and protected from all armed threats. A vow a group of top AFP commanders espoused
00:15in their courtesy call to the Speaker of the House yesterday. As our Melenas Moras lays out in this story.
00:23The armed forces of the Philippines assured continued loyalty to the Constitution
00:28and to the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. This was the vow enunciated by
00:34several senior AFP officials during their courtesy call on House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
00:40On behalf of our Chief of Staff, the Armed Forces of the Philippines will always remain to be loyal
00:47to our Constitution. During their meeting, Speaker Romualdez pledged the full support
00:52of the House of Representatives for the AFP Modernization Program. He also reiterated his
00:57proposal to increase the daily subsistence allowance of soldiers to no less than P350 a day
01:04in line with the Commander-in-Chief's goal of improving the welfare of uniformed personnel.
01:08According to the House Speaker, they allocated funds for this initiative under the 2025 budget
01:14proposal. And if the Senate supports this, the outcome should even be better. The Speaker of the
01:20House also reiterated his support and that of the House of Representatives for the modernization
01:30of our Armed Forces of the Philippines as we really have to modernize with the demand of the
01:38modern times. Thank you very much to our Speaker of the House. Meanwhile, in a separate statement
01:46by AFP Intelligence Commander Lieutenant General Ferdinand Barandon during his appearance before
01:52the Commission on Appointments, he said there is no cause for concern within their ranks amid the
01:57current political atmosphere and landscape. We should be afraid if there are, for example,
02:06impeachment cases, let's say, in the second highest ranking official.
02:13The Philippines, the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines
02:17are professionals and mission-oriented and we will abide by the truly constituted authorities
02:30and we will follow the chain of command. Melales Moras from the National TV Network
