00:00Advanced Science and Technology Institute of DOST is encouraging the transfer to a newer version of the Internet Protocol
00:10so that the network can be more secure and safe.
00:14Rod Laguzan is back in Italy.
00:19Whenever we use the Internet, like using social media and going to websites,
00:24we have an Internet Protocol or IP address that is a unique identity of a user in a network.
00:31In this regard, Advanced Science and Technology Institute of DOST is encouraging the transfer to a newer version of the Internet Protocol.
00:40This is the Internet Protocol Version 6 or IPv6.
00:44According to AST, the most secure network is included in the transfer benefits.
00:49They are prioritizing the transfer because the country is catching up.
00:53Internet providers like Telco and other Internet Service Providers need to be prioritized.
00:59They need to migrate or at least configure the IPv6 in their network
01:09so that the IPv4 and IPv6 can run at the same time.
01:14Until we reach the time that we can close the IPv4.
01:20The benefits of this for Internet Service Providers is that more clients or users can be included in their network.
01:28This also means maximizing the equipment they have
01:31because they don't need expensive equipment to expand their network.
01:35AST supports the transfer of the country to a newer version of the Internet Protocol.
01:41Sometimes, there are cases where they need training.
01:44AST DOST also does that training on IPv6.
01:50Basically, if there is a need for the Philippines with IPv6, DOST tries to meet that need.
01:57Under Executive Order 893, it is stated that the country should migrate to this country.
02:03According to AST, the two largest Telcos in the country are the first to commit to the transfer of the newer version of the Internet Protocol.
02:10Rod Laguzad, for Pambansang TV in the new Philippines.
