00:00More rice was brought to the public for all of the agriculture department.
00:06Because of the Rice for All program,
00:09the number of families in Metro Manila has increased.
00:13According to the DA, this will also reach other provinces.
00:17Civil Custodio in Centro, Balita.
00:22Ms. Josie is trying to fit the budget for her family's daily food.
00:28That's why she saved a lot of money for the Rice for All program.
00:33For example, if you buy 60 pesos, you'll get 40 pesos.
00:35That's a lot of money.
00:37It's just for the food.
00:40You can add more to the food.
00:42It's easier to go to the Rice for All program
00:46because it's available in some major markets in Metro Manila.
00:50That's why Fred was the first one in line
00:53after he heard that there's a Rice for All program in Guadalupe Public Market
00:57where he can go to the market.
00:59It's a bit cheap because I'm buying it for 47 pesos.
01:03It's 42 pesos.
01:05I can get a discount.
01:07It's better than the high price.
01:12For now, 45 pesos to 50 pesos per kilo is the regular price of well-milled rice in the market.
01:18Aside from the addition of the Rice for All program in the markets,
01:21the discrepancy was solved by lowering the price of imported rice
01:26and increasing the retail price.
01:28Since Executive Order No. 62 was implemented last July,
01:31where the price of rice was lowered from 35% to 15%,
01:36the Department of Agriculture is actively advising importers and retailers
01:41to reduce the price of rice.
01:43But due to the slow progress,
01:46the DA made an alternative solution by adding the Rice for All program in the markets
01:51to be a direct competitor to the retailers
01:53and to reduce the price of rice in the markets.
01:57The government is doing this because we are the ones who will directly put it in the markets.
02:02We are asking our retailers to make the price as low as possible.
02:09Aside from Guadalupe Public Market,
02:11there's also a Rice for All program in Camoning Market,
02:14Pasay City Public Market,
02:16New Las Piñas City Public Market,
02:18and Malabon Central Market.
02:20We have sites that are only open for one hour and we have no more allocation.
02:24Because our initial allocation, except for Camoning,
02:27was only 30 bags of 25 kilos delivered by FDI.
02:33But in Camoning, 100 bags were delivered.
02:36So earlier, the sales were also good there.
02:40It was successful, right?
02:41People want to buy cheaper rice.
02:45The pilot rollout in the five markets will last until Saturday.
02:48According to the DA,
02:49their target is to increase the number of Rice for All programs
02:53of the President's Executive Office in the markets
02:55even outside of Metro Manila.
02:57The DA is consulting with the DILG, DTI, DOLE, DSWD,
03:02and other branches of the Office of the President
03:04to support the Executive Office of the President's Executive Office.
03:07Aside from the public market,
03:0841 Executive Offices in the country have Rice for All programs.
03:12This is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s vision for food security
03:17and to stabilize the price of rice in the country.
03:20Vel Custodio for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
