00:00The government is losing a substantial amount of money due to the fake persons with disability identification cards.
00:06This was revealed during the Senate Committee on Ways and Means hearing.
00:10According to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, the government is losing 88 billion pesos with fake PWD IDs,
00:17causing significant damage to the economy.
00:20Meanwhile, some local governments have also raised complaints about this issue,
00:23which they found to be occurring in certain establishments.
00:28We need to stop these fake PWD IDs.
00:32And the only way is to have that registry up and running.
00:35Definitely, there is a revenue forgone because you provide discounts,
00:3920% discount that is actually deductible to your corporate income tax, and also some VAT exemptions.
00:47If there are many fake IDs, it can also translate to higher prices for the general consumers.
00:54Because, one, these businesses are here to make profit.
01:00And if the system is abused with these discounts,
01:03then the only way to recoup those losses is by putting a higher price.
