Consider the decades of abuse that happened behind closed doors at Nickelodeon and Disney channel, perhaps popular streamers like Kai are the future of entertainment for the youth.

00:00This might be the face of the future of entertainment for young people, and I'm here to explain
00:04to you why that's pretty cool.
00:05This is Kai Sinat, and he is a 22-year-old live streamer, and he has 13 million followers
00:10on a live streaming platform called Twitch.
00:12You may be asking, what even is Twitch?
00:14It's a massive streaming platform where you can watch people in real time as they broadcast
00:18themselves doing stuff.
00:19It's mostly used for video game live streaming.
00:22Imagine you're playing video games with your friends at home.
00:24Instead of being there, you could just log on and watch it live, hang out and chat with
00:29the people there, and actually build community.
00:31That's pretty much what it is.
00:32Kai is on the comedy reaction side of live streaming, so he's not there playing a game
00:37live.
00:38He is reacting to stuff, and he often has his friends over, and he's just kind of chilling.
00:42Kind of like this, but you know, reacting emotionally to stuff.
00:45And Kai just earned a huge achievement.
00:47At the very end of November, he got over 700,000 subscribers on his channel, making him the
00:53most subscribed channel in Twitch's history.
00:55So what's the appeal?
00:56Why would anyone want to watch somebody who is just sitting at their computer, hanging
01:01out, staring at the screen?
01:03For one, he's incredibly entertaining.
01:05Even though he's ridiculous, he's a very likable character, and he comes off very sincere.
01:09He's always been honest about his struggles in his past, his absolute devotion to his
01:14family.
01:15He's very earnest about trying to make something positive happen with all of his success.
01:19During the month of November, Kai decided to live stream nonstop the entire month, never
01:24stopping.
01:25To achieve his goal, he invited a lot of his closest friends to come and keep the stream
01:30going while he slept.
01:32He invited a longtime fan of his who begged to be included, and he just came.
01:36He brought friends he had met on his travels around the world.
01:39Kai invited other streamers who were not as successful as him, but Kai liked them.
01:44So he's like, you know what?
01:45You're going to help me do my stream too.
01:47Then there were the celebrity guests, like Bill Nye, the science guy who came to do science.
01:50Kevin Hart showed up in a matching outfit with a backpack ready to sleep over, and he
01:55did.
01:56Snoop Dogg literally just popped in, started dancing, and he hung out.
01:58And what they ended up with might be the future of entertainment for the youth because it
02:01was a hit.
02:02The reason I think it worked so well is because it came from an honest, authentic place of
02:06young people trying to have fun.
02:08His month-long live stream really centered genuine, wholesome friendships, family values,
02:13being kind-hearted, and honestly, the real-life stuff that young people are dealing with.
02:17Stress, family, school, dating, everything.
02:20Not to mention the aspect of chaotic live entertainment.
02:23Dare I say, some of his interactions feel like a modern-day variety show where you're
02:28tuning in and he is showing off all of his fun guests and the hijinks they get into just
02:33to entertain you, the audience.
02:35We grew up in the Disney Channel Nickelodeon generation that was for kids, by kids, and
02:39featured shows that had kids that looked like us.
02:42But the reality is that we know there was a dark side that was not revealed until very
02:46recently, and it showed that the kids that we grew to love did not have a voice and were
02:51not in control.
02:52So for Kai, his friends, his family, and all of the people who tune in to watch him, I
02:56truly wish them nothing but the best because I think he's proving that just because the
03:00older generations might not be familiar with something new, it doesn't mean that it's bad.
