The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) should harness modern drone technology to bolster their relief efforts in flood-stricken regions, says Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

The MCA secretary-general said that drones have become a fundamental part of China's disaster management, offering a powerful tool for assessing the severity of flood zones and delivering aid to isolated areas.

00:00Okay, I must thank CRSM for their efforts for this recent flood.
00:08We have sent our people there right into the flood area, especially in Kelantan.
00:15Our chief is still there in Kelantan and we thank all our partners who also provide the
00:22logistics.
00:24We work together with Red Cross.
00:26They have some relief items that they couldn't send to the flood area.
00:33So CRSM is helping them to talk to our sponsor to use the logistics to send all these items
00:40to the flood zone.
00:42I also mentioned in my speech just now, it's time for us to utilise the technology.
00:48Drone is very common now and drone has been in use in China.
00:53We sent our CRSM to China for training to see how they use this technology.
00:58It's easy manoeuvre technology to really understand the flood zone, the unreachable,
01:05to give a warning and they can also operate in night time.
01:09So I think it's time for CRSM to equip with drone and also I propose to NADMA and the
01:17government, it's time to upgrade and apply all this new technology in relief.
01:30So far we have mobilised at least 200 volunteers.
01:35We are also prepared.
01:36We were told in the briefing before this in October that this year is going to be a severe
01:44flood time.
01:46They predicted correctly, they predicted in Kelantan, Chungganu and also Sabah and also Kedah.
01:53So I think be prepared.
01:54This is only the first wave of flood, more to come.
01:58So I believe CRSM and all the other volunteers are getting ready and I hope more donations
02:06including medical, supply, food and of course volunteers to come forward and join us.
