Transcript
00:00Good day and welcome to the Gulf News Update for Thursday July the 10th. Here are the top
00:24stories at this hour. The Israeli occupation dramatically escalated its aerial assault
00:28in Gaza, now in its third day, killing 20 more Palestinians, including a family of
00:33eight, including five children, bringing the death toll so far to at least 75. Some of
00:39those who were killed were reportedly watching a World Cup football match when they were
00:42killed. A Qatari cell said to have been operating in the UAE under the direct supervision of
00:48Qatari intelligence has been smashed, Gulf News has learned. An official said the cell
00:52had been attempting to re-establish the al-Islah group linked to Egypt's terrorist-designated
00:58Muslim Brotherhood. A gunman killed four children and two adults during a domestic dispute in
01:03Texas on Wednesday before being taken into custody. The children, ranging in age from
01:08four to 13, were that of the gunman himself in the Houston-area rampage. Argentina clashed
01:14with Germany in an unprecedented third World Cup final between the two football powers
01:19on Sunday. After a goalless 120 minutes of play, Argentina beat the Netherlands 4-2 in
01:24a penalty shootout thanks to impressive saves from keeper Sergio Romero in the second semi-final
01:30last night. The British website Mail Online has apologised to George Clooney for alleging
01:35that his fiancée's mother opposed their marriage on religious grounds, a story Clooney
01:39called both wrong and irresponsible. Clooney is engaged to Beirut-born London lawyer Amal
01:44Al-Mudin, whose father Ramzi belongs to a prominent Druze family. Citing unnamed family
01:50friends, Mail Online reported this week that Beirut Al-Mudin wanted her 36-year-old daughter
01:55to marry a Druze man. It said Amal Al-Mudin risked being cast out of the community if
02:00she wed Clooney and claimed that several Druze women had been murdered for not abiding by
02:05strict Druze rules. And finally, the weather. The daytime temperature will be 40 degrees
02:10Celsius falling to 28 at night. That's all for now, thanks for watching. A reminder that
02:15our next bulletin will be on Sunday, but as always you can get the latest news at golfnews.com
