Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton is eager to face new challenges in the cage.
Transcript
00:00This Friday, August 29th, Dubai will play host to one FC, Reign of Champions.
00:14The stacked card will feature three title bouts with the headliner bout between Kemal
00:18Chalabroos and Shinya Aoki set to have fans poised on the edge of their seats.
00:22Chalabroos comes into this match in fantastic shape and confident after a great training
00:27camp.
00:28I've fought so many big tournaments, tough tournaments, big fighters, I'm ready, you
00:32know.
00:33For me, any fight is a fight.
00:34It doesn't matter.
00:35I have five days in my job, my fight day, so I'm ready, I was born ready.
00:42Despite the championship belts on the line, many fans are flocking to the event to see
00:46American Filipina boxing sensation Anna Hulatan.
00:50She faces off against Anne Osmond in the first match of the evening for her much-anticipated
00:55return to the octagon after her third round TKO of Aya Saeed Saber last May.
01:00What I've learned from boxing is that whether it's a title fight or not, everyone's gunning
01:03for me.
01:04They want what I have.
01:05I've spent over 10 years to be in this position right now, to achieve all the things that
01:09I have in boxing and also to have this stage that I have right now here in Dubai.
01:13I think it was a natural passion for me.
01:15My father had always been involved in martial arts and that's some of the things that we
01:18used to do as a pastime.
01:20He would watch movies together, we would actually practice in the garage, he'll show me some
01:23moves until he actually enrolled my brother and I into a formal martial arts school setting
01:28and it just kind of took off.
01:30It was something that I always identified myself with and it's something that I enjoy
01:34and I am proud to do for a living.
01:37At the end of it all, fighting is just fighting.
01:40One thing that I can bring into the cage is that whether I know a certain technique or
01:43not, for me it doesn't matter because I'm always going to bring that fighting experience,
01:47I'm bringing the world-class experience that I have from boxing into the cage and that's
01:51why I'm asking my opponents, are you ready for that?
01:54All I can really do is just kind of live in the moment and just do the best that I can
01:57do and I enjoy that and I have fun with it because it challenges me and then what ends
02:01up happening naturally is a lot of success so I feel like that's a natural progression
02:05for anyone who wants to achieve a goal or move into a passion or a career.
02:11It's just to have a humbling attitude, be willing to learn and just give full heart.
02:16Because styles make match-ups, I mean, what happens if one FC decides they're going to
02:19throw you in a ring with a BJJ black belt and they're going to tie you up on the ground
02:23for 25 minutes?
02:24Then I live for the moment, are you kidding me?
02:26Just to have that kind of experience, I was like, let's bring it on.
02:29I was like, you want to try and do that to me?
02:31You want to test me?
02:32You want to challenge me?
02:33Okay, let me test you.
02:34How does it feel to get hit by a boxer?
02:35Oh, that's right, you've never fought a world champion, that's right, you've never seen
02:38a jab like mine, you've never seen a combination like mine, you've never seen footwork like
02:41mine.
02:43That's what gets me so fired up and so pumped up, is that I feel like I'm able to bring
02:47a different element to the game of MMA, and I feel like that sometimes can be considered
02:52the classical mess that Bruce Lee would always talk about, where when you go into martial
02:55arts or a dojo setting or a school setting, you get caught up to a certain limitation
03:00by only what that teacher is able to provide you, versus with my experiences, I learn something
03:05new each and every day from so many different individuals from a world-class level, even
03:10from someone from a competitive level, even at a basic level, and I feel like just being
03:14able to have that ability to adapt gives me the advantage.
03:18In boxing they say to be a true world champion, you have to adapt to anything.
03:23I live to fight, I'm a fighter at the end of the day, I'm not someone out there who's
03:27thinking about other things or have a different career, this is my career, and this is something
03:31that I tend to keep and protect.
03:33The female boxing world champion holds black belts in Taekwondo and Bok-Fu, giving her
03:38added weapons to her already formidable stand-up game.
03:41There is a ton of hype surrounding Bulatin, and many experts expect her to make a huge
03:45impact in women's MMA.
