Seat allocations for the next general election should prioritise Barisan Nasional component parties and not "others", says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The MCA president said that the unity government's mandate was only for this term, as no single coalition won a majority to form the government in the last general election in 2022.
Dr Wee said this to the media after the 50th Barisan anniversary celebration at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday (Dec 7).

00:00What do you think about the priority of BN?
00:04I have firmly stated that we are not just a party that we have to strengthen.
00:14The second is to make BN our family and our home.
00:19Our priority is always BN.
00:22Because you know, after this election, we formed this government.
00:26It's actually a combination of our parties.
00:29It's a mixed government.
00:32It means that no one gets 112 years of age.
00:36So we have to carry out our duties as best as we can at this time.
00:43So I think we have to understand that the mandate is only for this time.
00:48So for the National Party to rise, how do we rise?
00:52We have to win.
00:54So I think in this case, we shouldn't suddenly praise others.
01:01We should praise our own party.
01:03Because in the end, this mandate will be used to fight for BN.
01:12I think we are all smart people.
01:15We can understand what I'm saying.
01:18I think if we reject our own party,
01:21then we have to praise others.
01:25Because we have to campaign for one city.
01:28So that's why I say, always put BN as your top priority.
01:32Because you are part of the government.
01:34You win because of the National Party.
01:36So I think, logically, we have to do this.
01:42Put our priority on BN.
01:45And we want BN to be progressive.
01:49Moderate.
01:50Inclusive.
01:51And also, we are a party that emphasizes equality.
01:57Because I say, people accuse us of all kinds of things.
02:01But we are agents of change.
02:03The society that we built, the people of Najibul.
02:06So let's not win without a reason.
02:09That's what I want to say.
02:10There are people who are so determined to win.
02:13The people are confused.
02:15But we are agents of change.
02:17We want to know our responsibilities.
02:19As long as we can change the way people feel.
02:24If they don't like it, let them hear it.
02:26We have to use one way.
02:28In the context of Malaysia, we have to protect everyone's heart.
02:31So, the spirit of tolerance,
02:34respect for each other,
02:36that is one of the elements that needs to be there.
02:39As a political party, as a political leader,
02:42we have to emphasize that.
02:44And think about everyone.
02:45Dato Sri, in your speech, you said that
02:48the PM should not be a party that is easily bullied.
02:51Did you mean what happened in Dewan Rakyat?
02:53I said, in Dewan Rakyat, I challenged
02:56which camera was recording me
02:58while I was interjecting.
03:02There was none.
03:04Then, Hansard was called.
03:06Are you in Dewan Makan or Dewan Kudiam?
03:09Because I am in Dewan Rakyat.
03:11Dewan Rakyat will of course be guided by Hansard.
03:14This is an official statement.
03:16If that is not the case, there is no proof.
03:18Sometimes, people say,
03:20we are doing this,
03:22this person is doing this.
03:24This is a slander.
03:26If we do this,
03:28if we don't fight back,
03:30how can people continue?
03:32This is to show solidarity.
03:34If people ignore or the MP ignores,
03:36it will be like this. I will rise up.
03:38Because I want to invite everyone.
03:40As a party, we should not have people bullying us.
03:43This is a joint effort.
03:45We win together as one bloc.
03:47So, let's not
03:51let the bullying happen.
03:53I have no right to question
03:56whether the current democratic system
03:58does not allow us
04:00to criticize or bully people.
04:02If that is the case,
04:04it's good that we are not in Dewan Rakyat.
04:06It's good that we don't need to talk like that.
04:08When it is wrong,
04:10it means that the minister
04:12said that I picked the wrong data.
04:15But the speaker said
04:17that I used the correct data.
04:19There is no mistake.
04:20I don't want to know who made the mistake.
04:22The important thing is that I didn't
04:24tell them the story.
04:26I said it based on
04:28your answer to other people.
04:30That's all.
04:31So, if you want to find a way
04:33to apologize, it's not important to me.
04:36But don't look at me
04:38as a traitor. That's all.
04:40I don't want to offend
04:42other people in Dewan Rakyat.
04:45No, I don't think so.
04:47Some people say that we are supportive.
04:49Yes, but
04:51we are a group of 30 people.
04:54How dare you?
04:55This is not a personal matter.
04:57If you are supportive,
04:58it's like an MP from MIC.
05:00Or an MP from UNLOC.
05:03If that thing is
05:05clearly and polite,
05:07it's not right.
05:09We are not terrorists.
05:11If we let it be,
05:13it will be a problem.
05:23I think all the views
05:25that we have discussed
05:27in Dewan Ketinggi
05:28or in the discussion in UN,
05:30I think we have conveyed.
05:32So, there are many things that we need
05:34to discuss in depth.
05:36But what is said openly
05:38is actually what we see.
05:40There is a possibility
05:42if we can only
05:44compete with the top.
05:46Whatever age we are,
05:48we will win.
05:50I mean, that's all.
05:52So, no.
05:54Even if there are a lot of UNLOC,
05:56they may not only compete with 30 people.
05:58There are many more.
06:00So, I think this is about
06:02improving the environment.
06:04It's not about one party.
06:06We need to think about
06:08a bigger space.
06:10If we want to rise, how do we rise?
06:12We need to rise in the sense
06:14of having a position
06:16that can be won by us.
06:18That's what's important.
