00:14banned from entering the newly opened Dubai Water Canal. Citing safety as the primary
00:19reason for the ban, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority said such boats will be fined up
00:24to 5000 dirhams if they enter the canal. However, the canal is open for a wide range of vessels,
00:29that do not exceed the limit of 35 metres, including luxury private yachts.
00:35A powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit north-eastern Japan today, triggering a tsunami along the
00:42coast. A one-metre wave crashed ashore at the stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant,
00:47but a spokesman said there were no reports of damage. Several other waves were recorded
