00:00Past 3 o'clock this afternoon, the volcano Calnaon erupted.

00:04That's why the state of the volcano was immediately raised to alert level 3.

00:08A thick black smoke came out from the summit of the volcano

00:12which is 4,000 meters high and there are storms from the volcano

00:17or pyroclastic density currents that came from below the volcano.

00:22Immediately, the local government units around Mount Calnaon were bombarded with explosions

00:28Residents were evacuated within a 6-kilometer danger zone

00:33and were prepared for the possibility of a magmatic eruption.

00:41Many Negros Islands were shocked by the sudden eruption of the volcano Calnaon

00:46past 3 o'clock this afternoon.

00:49A thick smoke came out from the volcano which is 4,000 meters high

00:56and lasted for 7 minutes.

00:58As of now, the alert level 3 in Calnaon has been raised.

01:02Residents were immediately evacuated within a 6-kilometer danger zone.

01:06The wind direction is on the southern side of Calnaon

01:10where it is possible for a magmatic eruption to occur.

01:13The pyroclastic density currents or PDCs

01:16fell on the southern half of the volcano

01:21based on IP and thermal cameras.

01:24It is remembered that it last erupted in June 2024.

01:44the thick smoke that was caused by the thick clouds was almost visible.

01:49DOST PHIVOX will raise the alert level of volcano Calnaon

01:53from alert level 2 to alert level 3.

01:56This means that a magmatic eruption has already started

02:01that could lead to an even stronger eruption.

02:04According to PHIVOX DOST Director Teresito Bacolcord

02:09there is a possibility of an expansion of the danger zone.

02:14Again, one of the crucial things here would be the expansion of the danger zone

02:21from 4 kilometers to 6 kilometers.

02:23So we are advising the LGUs to evacuate people

02:28living within the 6-kilometer danger zone.

02:32All local governments are advised to evacuate

02:35from a 6-kilometer radius from the top of the volcano

02:39and to be prepared for additional evacuation if necessary.

02:44Because of the eruption of the volcano

02:47some classes have been suspended in both public and private schools

02:52effective today.
