Artists at Dubai Canvas share their inspiration
Transcript
00:00I'm a street artist, international street artist, I'm from Mexico, I live in Spain,
00:10and I've been doing this festival five times now.
00:13Here we are working with a different theme always, there's always a different theme and
00:20different location.
00:21Traveling to art, the theme of this edition of the festival is what I've been always looking
00:28for with my work, because when the people see something in the art, they can travel
00:34through the imagination, they can travel through emotions, they can travel to the subject that
00:38you are depicting in your artwork.
00:40So in this case, in both sides, like the metaphor and also literally, with the 3D work you can
00:49be part of this dream, of this illusion, but for me, it's to give motivation and some kind
00:58of inspiration for the people that these days, because of the situation we are living, maybe
01:03they don't have the chance to travel, but I can see this action as an example or motivation
01:11for them to see that everything is moving forward again.
01:15It's my second year with Dubai Canvas, so my first participation was in 2018, and this
01:21is my second time with the theme of travel with art, through art.
01:26So we're all aware of the pandemic that's happening in the world, and art is always
01:32the escape for many people, and it's a portal where you can be anywhere, you can feel something
01:43different than what's happening around you, and what's beautiful is art speaks to all.
01:49So I think through this event, we all are in the same boat, as we say, and it's an escape
01:59for all of us, not just the artists, but also the audience and the viewers.
02:04I did two pieces, the first piece was a paper plane, which the people can stand on and imagine
02:11themselves going from Dubai to anywhere in the world.
02:15And the second painting is a flying brush, so the idea of that is that I will be flying
02:22around painting the skies and painting the landscapes.
02:26In my art, or through my art, I always focus on imagination.
02:30It's a huge part of my work, and I always fall back to that, because I feel like it's
02:39a place where you can feel free to express your feelings in any way, and I invite people
02:45to come and experience that through my paintings, the imagination, and not to strict themselves
02:57with the reality or the world, and just be able to freely express what their thoughts are.
