00:00Celebrities have more resources for getting in shape than the rest of us, but even with
00:04personal trainers and in-house chefs, losing weight is tough, which makes these stunning
00:08transformations all the more impressive.
00:11In September 2019, singer-turned-fashion entrepreneur Jessica Simpson revealed that she'd dropped
00:17a whopping 100 pounds since giving birth to her daughter, Birdie Mae, in March.
00:21The With You singer posted a stunning photo on Instagram that showed off her newly-svelte
00:25silhouette, writing,
00:26"[Six months, 100 pounds down.
00:29Yes, I tipped the scales at 240.
00:31My first trip away from Birdie Mae and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like
00:36myself again.
00:37Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder."
00:40Simpson was remarkably candid about her baby weight throughout her pregnancy with Birdie
00:44Mae, and she never lost her sense of humor.
00:47First, there was the 10-year challenge photo in January.
00:50It featured Simpson wearing a pair of Daisy Dukes alongside another photo of her ankles
00:54and feet.
00:55In March, she shared this photo, along with the pun-tastic caption,
00:58"...gestation."
00:59And let's not forget this Instagram post from February, in which Jessica Simpson offered
01:04up the following public service announcement,
01:06"...warning, don't lean back on the toilet when pregnant."
01:10Back in May, she shared another precious moment, writing in the caption,
01:13"...just stretching it out in my rubber corset.
01:15The joy of postpartum."
01:17It sounds like Simpson's recent weight loss took a lot of discipline.
01:20In September 2019, a source told People,
01:23"...she's working hard and working out and eating healthy and trying to get back in her
01:27best shape and excited for what's ahead."
01:29The source goes on to say,
01:31"...she's trying to get back to her healthiest place.
01:34She's not focused on the number on the scale, but on feeling her best self."
01:37In July 2019, Simpson told People that she was doing lots of walking in order to get
01:42back in shape both physically and mentally following Birdie Mae's birth.
01:46She also said she was trying to eat as healthily as possible, and was pleasantly surprised
01:50to discover that she actually liked cauliflower.
01:53Meanwhile, her longtime personal trainer, Hartley Pasternak, congratulated Simpson on
01:58Instagram, writing,
01:59"...beyond proud of this incredible woman.
02:01Been working together for over 12 years and she's always the most warm, sweet, polite
02:06and respectful person in the world.
02:08And on top of it all, after being non-stop pregnant for as long as I can remember, she's
02:13down 100 pounds and looks younger today than she was when we met."
02:16Jessica Simpson's weight has, in fact, fluctuated over the last decade, a fact that's generated
02:21all too many gossipy headlines and unfortunate jokes.
02:25In 2009, she told Glamour,
02:27"...celebrities aren't perfect.
02:29It's amazing to me how much thought is put into a woman's figure on tabloid covers."
02:33She also told the publication that she's been struggling with her body image ever since
02:37she was a kid, revealing,
02:39"...when I was young, I would look at magazines and feel a lot of pressure.
02:43As a child of 12, I would write things in my journal like, I'm lying here and all I
02:47can think about is that my stomach is hanging over my underwear.
02:50That disturbs me even today."
02:52In 2012, Simpson gave birth to her first child, her daughter Maxwell, with husband Eric Johnson.
02:58She lost 50 pounds following the delivery using Weight Watchers, but she put the weight
03:01back on almost immediately after getting pregnant with her son Ace just five months later.
03:06In February 2014, she told ABC News,
03:09"...you are creating a life, and honestly, it's not easy.
03:13It is a really hard thing to go through, and you deserve to eat your ice cream, you deserve
03:17to have your pancakes.
03:19Do whatever you want to do, and then afterwards, just know that you have to work really hard.
03:23I had to learn that with my first and second pregnancy."
03:26Throughout it all, Simpson has managed to maintain a positive attitude and a great perspective.
03:31As she told The Today Show in 2014,
03:33"...well, I think that I can relate to every woman out there.
03:38I have been every size there is."
03:40And in regards to all those nasty headlines about her weight, Simpson didn't mince words
03:45when speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2016.
03:48"...media scrutiny sucks.
03:51I try my hardest to step above it and rise above it."
03:57When Keeping Up With The Kardashians debuted on E! in 2007, Rob Kardashian had the world
04:02on a string.
04:03But after splitting with pop star Rita Ora in 2012, he turned to junk food to cope.
04:08And as his weight ballooned, his self-esteem evaporated.
04:11Kardashian was reportedly even afraid to step out in public and be photographed.
04:15"...if I don't get some of this together, then I won't want to, like, hang around everybody,
04:20you know what I'm saying?"
04:21But by 2018, he managed to finally shed some pounds and get back within reach of his ideal
04:26weight.
04:27So, just how did he do it?
04:28This is Rob Kardashian's dramatic weight loss transformation.
04:31By 2014, Kardashian was making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
04:36In a now-deleted throwback Instagram, he revealed that his problem worsened when he started
04:40drinking milkshakes.
04:42His weight gain was so dramatic that he wound up trending on Twitter because of it.
04:46He wrote, in a series of since-deleted tweets,
04:48"...so I found out I was trending for being fat.
04:50Thank you all, it really made my day.
04:52I'm aware that I'm fat and that death ain't a surprise to me lol and my only therapy will
04:56be in the gym.
04:58Anyways, had to say something."
05:00Kardashian's Twitter rant came just days before his sister, Kim Kardashian, was due
05:04to marry rapper Kanye West in Italy.
05:07Despite making it all the way to Paris, he ended up flying straight back to L.A. because
05:10he didn't want to be seen at the ceremony.
05:12"...when Rob flew to Paris, he read some nasty comments about himself and he just didn't
05:18feel comfortable and he didn't want to see all my guests."
05:20According to TMZ, Rob had
05:22"...become so insecure and depressed about his appearance that he refused to be in the
05:26family wedding pics."
05:28Despite his family's encouragement, Kardashian confessed to People,
05:31"...I'm 6'1 and at my most I probably weighed 300 pounds.
05:34There were cameras at the airport on our trip there and I was very unhappy with the person
05:38I saw in all the pictures."
05:41When newlywed sister Kim returned to the States, she told Andy Cohen that Rob sent her a long
05:45email on the morning of her wedding explaining his reasons for bailing.
05:49But Kim wasn't feeling sympathetic, saying,
05:52"...try to, um, encourage him.
05:55Like, once you just don't make that change for so long and it's not happening, I get
05:59frustrated."
06:00And Kim isn't the only Kardashian to have lost her patience with Rob.
06:03Sister Khloe told People in 2015,
06:05"...I've been really trying, but I have my moments and I do snap.
06:08I've offered to get a chef, I'm like, what's your excuse?
06:11But it's not just that.
06:12I can't win life for Rob.
06:13I have to wait until he's ready to do it for himself."
06:15Rumor started circulating in 2014 that Kardashian was heading to weight loss camp, but he quickly
06:21shut down that story, in a since-deleted tweet, writing,
06:24"...to the blog saying I went to fat camp or rehab lol then why am I still fat you fools
06:29y'all must have run out of real news."
06:31The Kardashians tried to stage a family intervention, but as soon as Rob caught wind of the plan,
06:36he split.
06:37An insider told Radar Online in 2017,
06:39"...he's refusing rehab.
06:41He doesn't want any fat farms.
06:43No more therapists, no more interventions, diets, and meddling sisters."
06:48Rob is said to have suffered from depression ever since the death of his biological father
06:51in 2003, with his weight issues only making matters worse.
06:55In a 2015 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, his mother, Kris Jenner, said she fears the
07:00worst is yet to come, admitting,
07:02"...if I don't help him do something drastic, that he's gonna die."
07:07She later told a therapist on the show,
07:09"...it's just like you're waiting for this horrible thing to happen and there's nothing
07:13you can do about it."
07:15By the end of 2015, Rob's weight was threatening his life.
07:19In December of that year, he was rushed to a hospital after falling ill due to complications
07:23from diabetes.
07:24According to TMZ, Rob then became determined to shed the extra weight and get healthy in
07:29the new year, but one whistleblower claimed his lifestyle only got worse.
07:33The insider told Radar Online,
07:34"...he thinks nothing of having two or three tubs of ice cream in the afternoon.
07:38It's wreaking havoc on his diabetes, not to mention the added stress the weight is putting
07:42on his heart."
07:44Rob reportedly became so disheartened about his appearance that he withdrew from society
07:49altogether, holing up in his mom's house and becoming a total recluse.
07:52But Khloe told Wonderwall in March 2015 that his issues weren't just physical ones.
07:57She said,
07:58"...over the last year, Rob has become very introverted and has a kind of social anxiety.
08:02I know he can get to that happy place, and he will."
08:05A few weeks later, Kim revealed her thoughts about Rob on Today, saying,
08:09"...I think he's just going through a phase where he's not comfortable in his own skin.
08:12He is working really hard to get back to where he really wants to be."
08:15But Rob's friends weren't so sure he could do it.
08:18One insider revealed to Hollywood Life,
08:20"...his weight affects his mood and then his mood affects his motivation to eat well and
08:23work out.
08:24It's a vicious cycle."
08:25While those closest to Rob were warning him about his weight, there was one person who
08:30thought he was fine just the way he was.
08:32Rob's former Dancing with Stars partner, Sheryl Burke, told the allegedly podcast of his fluctuating
08:37weight.
08:39"...he's making it a bigger deal than it is, because I think that it's fine."
08:44Rob finally managed to get his diabetes under control in 2016, according to CNN.
08:49It was the first big victory in his battle with obesity, but Rob didn't do it alone.
08:53He revealed that his romance with model Blac Chyna turned out to be the catalyst he needed
08:57in order to make positive changes.
08:59He told People at the time,
09:00"...she surrounded me with a lot of positivity.
09:03From the moment we met, I knew I wanted to be more than friends."
09:06According to TMZ, his new flame encouraged him to cut carbs and red meat, and hit the
09:10gym five times a week with no cheat days.
09:12With her help, he was able to shed an impressive 40 pounds.
09:16Blac Chyna gave birth to Rob's daughter, Dream Kardashian, in November 2016.
09:21But less than a year later, the two separated under very nasty circumstances.
09:25After the breakup, Rob started to pack on the pounds.
09:28A friend told Radar Online,
09:29"...he's the biggest he's ever been.
09:31He's well over 300 pounds now, and he's a heart attack waiting to happen."
09:35Radar's source claimed Rob had been comfort-eating big-time, and claimed,
09:38"...he's got major anger and addiction issues, brought on by a chronic lack of self-esteem
09:43over his looks and his position in the family.
09:45He's lost the will to live, and if it wasn't for his little girl, he'd probably not have
09:49made it."
09:50According to the Belfast Telegraph, Kim allegedly urged mom Kris to stop enabling Rob's unhealthy
09:54lifestyle with financial support.
09:57According to Hollywood Life, Rob started joining Kylie for workouts every other day as she
10:01aimed to shed her baby weight after giving birth to daughter Stormi in February 2018.
10:07Before long, he was looking slimmer than he had in years.
10:09A source revealed,
10:10"...seeing the weight fall off has been huge in helping Rob get his confidence back.
10:14Kylie challenged and pushed Rob to be better for Dream, and that's all the motivation he
10:17needed."
10:18The insider claimed Rob finally agreed to stick to his diet, though having a young child
10:22in the house has helped amp up the activity level.
10:24The source claimed,
10:25"...Rob is staying disciplined and sticking with a strict nutritional program that he's
10:29been put on to get his weight down as well.
10:32And it makes it easier for him since Dream keeps him pretty active already.
10:35He's having a blast chasing her around."
10:36Fans got to see the Instagram evidence of Rob's weight loss on his 31st birthday in
10:40March 2018.
10:42Ethan Suplee made a name for himself by starring in the likes of Mallrats and My Name is Earl.
10:47But his decision to focus on fitness and lose weight actually cost him dearly in Hollywood.
10:52Now he's opening up about his dramatic transformation and future goals.
10:56There's no denying that Suplee found fame in showbiz.
10:59Unfortunately, that fame worked against him when he decided to get his health back on
11:02track.
11:03In a 2017 interview with Entertainment Weekly, he explained, for example, how difficult it
11:07was for him to land a role on the Hulu psychological thriller Chance.
11:11He revealed,
11:12"...Initially, the casting directors didn't want me to come in because I'd lost a bunch
11:15of weight.
11:16Apparently, they had proposed me a bunch of times, but the casting directors were like,
11:19no, he's too thin now.
11:21Getting rejected in Hollywood must hurt."
11:22So Suplee eventually decided to stop prioritizing his fitness as much as he had been.
11:27As he put it to Entertainment Weekly,
11:29"...A couple years ago I made the decision, I'm not going to kill myself to be thin when
11:32nobody knows me as a thin person.
11:34And I do think it is affecting the kind of jobs I'm getting, and so I just kind of relaxed
11:38on my diet."
11:40Suplee's dramatic transformation is particularly commendable considering he's struggled with
11:44his weight his entire life.
11:45He's been talking about it openly a lot lately, particularly on his podcast American Glutton,
11:50which he launched in January 2020.
11:52As he explained on the podcast, he's struggled with his weight since he was 5 years old,
11:56and he's also revealed that his grandparents even restricted his eating.
11:59He then turned to drugs and alcohol to, quote, "...help fill the void inside him."
12:03When I look at pictures of me as a 5-year-old kid, I see a totally normal kid.
12:07I don't even see an overweight kid.
12:08I see basically an average 5-year-old kid."
12:11After finding mainstream success on My Name is Earl, Suplee became known for big-bodied
12:15characters, which made it hard for him to expand into more diverse roles.
12:19When the show ended in 2009, he took on cycling as a hobby and slimmed down from over 400
12:25pounds to 220 pounds.
12:26Unfortunately, though, his new look cost him work.
12:30Suplee began 2020 in the spotlight thanks to his weight loss, which gave him a fantastic
12:33platform to discuss his diet goals and educate others struggling with the same issues.
12:38As he explained to Men's Health,
12:39"...I made my career as the fat guy.
12:41I don't want to be fat anymore.
12:43If the podcast is what I have to do to make a career, that's fine.
12:46The most important thing I would want anyone to take away is that, for me, the biggest
12:49change was understanding how food works.
12:52And the more I feel that I understand, scientifically, the more power I have over it."
12:55With Diet and Exercise, Suplee is taking a scientific approach to the world of nutrition.
13:00As he revealed in Men's Health, he was on a ketogenic diet until he came across a TED
13:03Talk by Dr. Mike Israetel called The Scientific Landscape of Healthy Eating.
13:08After studying the talk, he switched to a low-fat diet and gained 8 pounds in three
13:12days.
13:13But he stayed the course of committing to the science.
13:15For him, this meant aiming to get to a weight of about 260 pounds and working towards 10
13:19percent body fat.
13:20"...I have to trick my body into thinking it needs the muscle to survive."
13:25While Suplee has taken a scientific approach to nutrition, he also spends a good chunk
13:29of his time physically training.
13:31He revealed to Extra in February 2020 that he spends about an hour at the gym every day.
13:35In fact, he's gotten so streamlined with his workouts that he gave Men's Health a glimpse
13:39at what he does at the gym.
13:40He revealed that since he's lost a lot of weight, he's now focusing on retaining as
13:44much muscle as possible as he continues to drop the pounds.
13:47He also noted that a girl he met was another important reason for keeping up his regimen.
13:51"...Losing weight and getting healthy was the only way that I could see on making sure
13:56I had the longest time with her."
13:59Suplee is also focusing on maintaining his current weight, rather than dropping much
14:02lower on the scale.
14:03As he explained to Extra, he was about 50 pounds lighter in 2011 than he is now.
14:08But his skin hung loose, and he didn't feel happy.
14:10"...I felt like a light breeze would knock me over."
14:13"...So, how do you feel now?"
14:16"...I feel fantastic."
14:19While training is essential to Suplee's transformation, he also credits his lean, high-protein diet,
14:24which doesn't sound like it's all that appetizing when he describes it.
14:26He told People magazine,
14:27"...I actually work to make my diet unenjoyable.
14:30I'm trying partially because I'm a little bit of a masochist, but also because I want
14:34food not to be a crutch emotionally.
14:36I want it to be a source of fuel."
14:37Suplee shed a bit more insight into the trials and tribulations of dieting during an interview
14:41with Extra.
14:42"...I numb myself with it, I entertain myself with it, I anesthetize myself with it, and
14:48I have to just stay away from that."
14:50Suplee follows his eating regimen pretty closely and consistently, but when he does deviate
14:54from his diet, he makes sure to plan that out.
14:57For example, there's a place called Burgers Never Say Die that he goes to two or three
15:00times a year.
15:01Hopefully, there are many great things still to come for Ethan Suplee for both his fitness
15:05and career.
15:07From green teas to keto diets and intermittent fasting, celebs haven't been shy about their
15:12methods for dropping pounds.
15:14But who was so committed to their dream physique that they hopped states to get it?
15:19Adele may have gone through an enormous physical transformation, but she's made it clear that
15:23society had no impact on her decision to lose weight.
15:26In an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Adele admitted her 100-pound weight loss was
15:30triggered by a need to focus her attention on something following the end of her marriage.
15:35In that process of having, you know, lost all of that weight, I definitely really contributed
15:41towards me getting my mind right."
15:43The Easy On Me singer revealed that she suffered anxiety attacks and went to the gym as a way
15:47to cope with her mental stress following her divorce, which was finalized in 2021.
15:53She told Winfrey,
15:54"...I didn't have any anxiety when I was with my personal trainer at the gym.
15:57It became my time."
15:59The Grammy Award-winning artist said a combination of weightlifting and cardio helped her shed
16:03the weight.
16:04There was lots of online chatter about her transformation, something she admitted she
16:08wasn't surprised by.
16:09"...I'm not shocked or even phased by it because my body has been objectified my entire career."
16:16While some people admire the star for her weight loss journey or even look to her for
16:19advice, Adele doesn't want to become a role model for others looking to lose weight.
16:24She says,
16:25"...It's not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies.
16:28I'm trying to sort my own life out.
16:30I can't have another worry, another thing to try and nail.
16:33I can't."
16:35Charles Barkley spent 16 years in the NBA in top shape, but in retirement, the former
16:39basketball player confronted a harsh reality about his health.
16:43Barkley, who works as an NBA analyst, opened up about losing nearly 60 pounds on the Turner
16:48Sports pregame show, admitting that his doctor confronted him about being overweight.
16:53Barkley recalled,
16:54"...She said to me, there's no fat old people, only fat young people.
16:57And she said, if you don't get this stuff together, you're not gonna be around."
17:02Barkley admitted on The Dan Patrick Show that he used the prescription drug Monjaro to help
17:06him shed the pounds, saying,
17:08"...I started at 352, and I'm down to 290.
17:12I'm starting to feel like a human being."
17:14"...My goal is to get to 270.
17:17And 270, you don't drop dead, hopefully, being 20 pounds overweight."
17:21While Barkley may know a thing or two about scoring baskets, he knows less about the drug
17:25he's injecting himself with, something he copped to on The Pat McAfee Show, saying,
17:30"...I have zero idea what it does."
17:32Monjaro is a prescription drug similar to the popular celebrity weight-loss drug Ozempic
17:37in that it works to suppress appetite and change metabolism rates.
17:41It's taken by injection, and it's intended for people diagnosed with diabetes.
17:46Billy Gardell is hard to recognize after his physical transformation.
17:49The Mike & Molly star lost over 150 pounds since the pandemic, and he said he was inspired
17:55to do so to reduce the risks associated with the coronavirus.
17:58A decade ago, Gardell weighed nearly 400 pounds.
18:01He admitted to Entertainment Tonight that he changed his relationship with food to transform
18:05his body.
18:06"...I think you gotta find peace with yourself, and at some point look in the mirror and go,
18:10you know, it's probably time to take care of you.
18:12And I didn't get that note early on."
18:14Gardell says he believes it's never too late to get the message and make lifestyle changes
18:19— that what's important is that you eventually do make those changes for your own health
18:23and well-being.
18:24Since starting his weight-loss journey, the actor revealed he no longer has type 2 diabetes
18:29and has dramatically reduced his resting heart rate.
18:31While he still smokes cigarettes, he told Entertainment Tonight he plans on cutting
18:34down on his vices to be present for his son, saying,
18:37"...When you hit 50, you start doing that dad math, like, if I can live 25 more years
18:42and he'll be 40, I want to be here for him.
18:45I've been an example in a lot of good ways for my child, but I feel like I wasn't a good
18:49example of health for him, and so I want him to see that."
18:54Randy Jackson underwent a huge weight-loss transformation nearly two decades ago, and
18:58he's managed to keep the pounds off.
18:59The former American Idol judge underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2003 after being diagnosed
19:05with type 2 diabetes.
19:06The surgery helped him lose over 100 pounds.
19:09In a 2022 interview with People, Jackson said,
19:12"...It's a great jump-starter.
19:13You lose a bunch of weight really fast, but maintaining's another thing.
19:17Because you get there and your mind tells you, OK, phew, I'm here now, I can start to
19:21party and bring out the cheesecakes."
19:23Jackson kept the weight off by prioritizing healthy foods and focusing on his gut health.
19:28He also changed his relationship to food without fad diets or completely swearing off all sweets,
