00:00Well, Charles, Wrexham, of course, a team that were bought by Hollywood by Ryan Reynolds
00:08and Rob McElhenney.
00:11It's such an interesting story, that one, because they were a club that was essentially
00:14left to rot in non-league football, and then these two come in with their Hollywood money.
00:21They have a show on Disney as well.
00:24Welcome to Wrexham.
00:26And it's a bit of a fairy tale so far.
00:28I mean, obviously, some outsiders perhaps might not see it that way, although for those
00:32involved in Wrexham, I think it's just been a rollercoaster ride, but certainly a positive
00:36one so far in terms of the progression that clubs experienced under their new owners.
00:42But the question is, how far can they actually take them?
00:44Because, of course, you know, you look towards the Premier League and you think, well, there
00:46are essentially some state-owned or nearly state-owned clubs, depending on what your
00:51viewpoint is.
00:52Wrexham certainly are still on a good trajectory, but how far can they actually go under these
00:57two?
00:58And I think at the moment, you look at them and you think, how high is this actual ceiling?
01:03It's incredible to see where they've gone and how far they've gone in such a short space
01:07of time.
01:08You know, you have to give full credit to Phil Parkinson, a manager who's had lots of
01:12EFL experience.
01:13He knows clubs, he knows, you know, the way to get clubs promoted as well.
01:19You have to give credit to these owners, you know, they've come in and they've not completely
01:24changed the culture.
01:25They've just sort of adjusted things a little bit, which a lot of fans have loved.
01:29A lot of fans have taken really, really well to, you know, the likes of Phil Parkinson
01:34and Paul Mullin, the players who are in the side and getting them through these tough
01:39times and tough divisions.
01:41It's not a walk in the park, League Two, League One, and, you know, achieving promotion was
01:46unbelievable in League Two, to go straight from the National League, you know, in dramatic
01:52fashion it was as well.
01:55To do it like this, it is such a strange situation, but also something that a lot of clubs really
02:03want to build a model around.
02:04I mean, you see in this modern game, there's so many American, whether it be people involved
02:10in sport, people with a lot of funding, they're coming into the game now.
02:14So yeah, obviously they're doing well in League One this season so far.
02:19I mean, it's been a massive change for them to go up.
02:23If they are to go to the championship, it would be remarkable for them.
02:26It would be the highest they've been in the EFL and, you know, it's just going to continue
02:32for them.
02:33I mean, you know, you look at their squad and it's not just players who have no experience.
02:40These are players who've played in the Premier League, you know, Stephen Fletcher, you know,
02:43you've got John Daddy Bob Varsen, a lot of championship experience, and these are top,
02:48top players as well.
02:50So at the moment they are signing in years in advance, I'd say.
02:55It's real credit to them and I think it's going to continue for years to come.
