00:00Miralco has a new increase in electricity bills this December.

00:06The increase is more than 10 cents per kilowatt-hour.

00:09According to Miralco, the total bill for electricity is P21 for typical households

00:15that consume 200 kilowatt-hours because of the increase in generation charge

00:20paid by Miralco to electricity suppliers.

00:23It's almost Christmas.

00:25Where are you going to get this additional charge for your electricity?

00:31The Energy Regulatory Commission approved the increase in electricity

00:37by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines since January.

00:40Miralco is not yet clear on how this will affect the bill.

00:46What is the manipulation of the price of sugar that the Congress wants to investigate?

00:51According to the United Sugar Producers Federation of the Philippines,

00:54there are traders who are buying sugar at a low price to increase the price.

01:00In a privileged speech by Negros Occidental 5th District Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo,

01:05he said that this should be investigated and answered.

01:09Those who should protect sugar farmers should also be protected.

01:14The Sugar Regulatory Administration supports the investigation.

01:19The 4th Philippine Human Rights Plan was launched today, International Human Rights Day.

01:24In its launch earlier in Pasay City,

01:27Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin handed over the National Human Rights Action Plan

01:32which will be a guide to strengthen the rights of people in various sectors.

01:38Its 8 chapters on various issues, such as gender equality, child poverty,

01:44abuse and exploitation,

01:46protection of PWDs,

01:48protecting the tradition of indigenous people,

01:51enforcing the custodial facilities,

01:54and actions against human trafficking and torture.

01:57In a separate meeting,

01:59the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates and several groups protested.
