The suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO struggled with deputies and shouted Tuesday while arriving for a court appearance in Pennsylvania, a day after he was arrested at a McDonald’s and charged with murder.

Luigi Nicholas Mangione emerged from a patrol car, spun toward reporters and shouted something partly unintelligible referring to an “insult to the intelligence of the American people” while deputies pushed him inside.

00:00Manhattan prosecutors filed a murder charge against Luigi Mangione in the December 4th
00:09killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
00:13And they were working to bring him back from Pennsylvania to face those charges in New
00:17York City.
00:18Now Mangione was arrested on Monday at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, about 230 miles
00:24west of Manhattan.
00:25Now investigators in Pennsylvania posted new photos, new to the public at least, of Mangione
00:31in Altoona.
00:33They show him at the McDonald's where he was arrested, eating a hash brown with a blue
00:38mask on his face, taking the mask off, and then there are other photos of him what appears
00:43to be in a jail cell or a holding cell.
00:46Mangione was held without bail in a state prison in Pennsylvania.
00:50He was charged there with presenting a false identification to police, with forgery, and
00:54with a gun charge.
00:56Police say they found a ghost gun, an untraceable make-it-at-home kind of weapon, along with
01:02a suppressor or silencer, and writings that they say tie him potentially to this crime.
01:09Among the things he said were that there were parasites and that they had this coming to
01:14them, which investigators believe was a reference to the healthcare industry and potentially
01:19UnitedHealthcare specifically.
01:22In those writings, according to a law enforcement official, Mangione also said that he did this
01:28alone.
01:29He said he wanted to save investigators the time and trouble of finding potential co-conspirators.
01:34He says there were none.
01:37Mangione's arrest in Pennsylvania adds a wrinkle to the process going forward.
01:42He faces charges there.
01:44He also faces charges in New York for the murder of Brian Thompson.
01:49Now, police and prosecutors have filed for an arrest warrant, and they are seeking extradition
01:55from Pennsylvania to New York to prosecute Mangione for that killing.
