00:00Lafayette is fueled by small businesses and the life they bring makes a huge

00:03difference. Each year the Greater Lafayette Commerce highlights multiple

00:07businesses making a difference in the city. In the past they've given awards to

00:10businesses like Flora Candle Company and essentially Aqua. Today Star City talked

00:14with another past winner French Knot. It was so nice it's really nice to be

00:18recognized locally. This community has been so supportive of French Knot.

00:22French Knot is a textile company in Lafayette but is featured in many retail

00:26stores. Bloomingdale's Nordstrom, Anthropologie Free People, Uncommon

00:31Goods, Sundance Catalog, Garnet Hill. The owner Lindsey Mason was surprised to

00:38receive the award for small business of the month in February this year. People

00:41understand what it is that we do especially when we open up for our

00:45warehouse sale because it's not somewhere where people open up for

00:47sample sales. It's obviously so nice to be recognized by the local commerce.

00:51Lindsey at French Knot is proud of the fact that you don't have to be in a big

00:55area to have a successful business. A lot of people would ask us you know like has

00:59moving to Lafayette affected your like fashion textile business because you're

01:02not you know on the East Coast you're not in New York and it definitely hasn't

01:06so I always say like you know you don't have to be in New York or LA to run a

01:11successful fashion company. French Knot is preparing for its big annual warehouse

01:15sale. This weekend and next all of their overstock will be heavily discounted.

01:19It's the only time their warehouse is open to the public for sale.
