Der Brutalist ist der dritte Spielfilm von Regisseur Brady Corbet (Vox Lux). Adrien Brody spielt die Hauptrolle des László Tóth, einem in Ungarn geborenen jüdischen Architekten, der den Holocaust überlebt. Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wandert er in die Vereinigten Staaten aus, um den "amerikanischen Traum" zu erleben.
