00:04Welcome to this week's round-up of money-saving tips and financial news stories.
00:08Let's dive right in.
00:16First up, Royal Mail has announced its final delivery dates for Christmas and the New Year period.
00:21Your last chance for normal deliveries and collections will be on Christmas Eve, or Tuesday 24th December.
00:27While there will be no deliveries or collections on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
00:31Normal deliveries resume on Friday 27th December, and it's business as usual once again until New Year's Day,
00:38when there'll be no Royal Mail service.
00:40Thursday 2nd January is also a bank holiday in Scotland, but there'll be normal service for the rest of the country from then on.
00:47So, if you're sending Christmas gifts, double-check those dates and get your parcels out early to avoid any holiday disappointment.
00:54Next, let's talk about saving money while staying festive.
00:58According to Martin Lewis's money-saving expert team, swapping your old Christmas lights for LEDs can really save you cash.
01:05Running a string of 100 LED bulbs costs less than 1p for 12 hours,
01:09but if you're using more traditional incandescent lights, it'll cost you about 12p for the same amount of time.
01:15Over the course of the holidays, those savings really add up.
01:19Here's a pro-tip. To keep your electricity bill even lower, consider putting your lights on a timer.
01:24That way, they turn off automatically when you're asleep or out of the house.
01:28It's a simple hack to save even more.
01:31And finally, some bittersweet news for cinema fans.
01:34Cineworld has announced the closure of six more sites, including Castleford, Leigh and Middlesbrough, as part of its restructuring.
01:41The other sites affected are Northampton, Poole and Weymouth.
01:45While it's a tough time for staff and communities, it's also a sign of how challenging the entertainment industry has become in recent years.
01:51And that's all for this week's top stories and tips. See you next time.
