00:00Many thanks to the islanders of Pag-asa in the West Philippine Sea
00:04for their early assistance from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
00:08BFAR continues its mission in the other side of China's blockade.
00:12First news, Ian Cruz.
00:24The China's radio challenge as Pag-asa Island approaches the West Philippine Sea
00:28was not ignored by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
00:33They have an important mission to deliver Christmas gifts to residents of Pag-asa.
00:38There are bags, school supplies, toys, and food for more than 100 students.
00:44BFAR will now deliver Christmas gifts to residents of Pag-asa Island and those who are here
00:50to show the importance of the agency to the residents here
00:55especially to the youth who will be the future of this island.
01:00Some supplies, instructional materials, and sports equipment are delivered to their schools.
01:06And each unit that is in charge and oversees our island has a Noche Buena package.
01:12This island is not only a symbol of hope,
01:16it is also a symbol of courage and strength
01:20that serves as an inspiration and an example to each one of us.
01:25Pag-asa Island's coordinator of Pag-asa is very thankful for the gifts
01:30especially since they are far from the mainland and it is difficult to buy gifts.
01:35Some residents are asking for help this Christmas.
01:38We would like to be able to provide additional classrooms,
01:44additional instructional materials for our students.
01:49We would like to have our own Wi-Fi here on the island.
01:54But more than that, some are asking for one more thing.
01:57Our wish in China is that they will stop harassing us
02:01because they know and the whole world knows that we are in the Philippines.
02:05About China, I wish that they will not stop us from traveling.
02:13This is the first news. Ian Cruz for GMA Integrated News.
02:24Thank you for watching and tuning in to Unang Balita.
