Transcript
00:00And camera's running.
00:02Hello, I'm Natasha Farrell, Headteacher of Lockseed Junior School.
00:06We're here today because we've had a good Ofsted outcome.
00:10I'd like to introduce you to some Year 5 tutors.
00:14Hello, my name's Hugo and I'm from Lockseed Junior School.
00:18Hello, my name's Anya and I'm from Lockseed Junior School.
00:21Hello, my name's Phoebe and I'm from Lockseed Junior School.
00:24Hello, my name's Nell and I'm from Lockseed Junior School.
00:27Thank you. Mrs Farrell, tell readers of the news about the school please.
00:32What makes the school special?
00:34So our school is a big school with a very big heart.
00:39So we live by our motto, where children come first.
00:44And I think all of the staff feel that that is at the heart of what we do.
00:49All our policies and all of our actions in the school put children at the heart of everything.
00:55How do you feel about winning this award?
00:58So we're very grateful to have been recognised as a good school.
01:03It feels that we've had the hard work that we've put into the school over the last few years very much validated.
01:10Wonderful. Tell me please about any plans for the future.
01:14So our plans for the future, obviously we'll be working on the two objectives that the Ofsted team left us with.
01:23So we're going to be working towards making sure that our teachers have secured subject knowledge in the few subject areas where that still needs to be the case.
01:35And that will enable us to be more sharply focused in our assessment procedures so that children get better feedback and make better progress.
01:45We're very much in the infancy of thinking about the next stage of our development plan.
01:52But we'll probably work towards being a more healthy community with a view of particularly focusing on subjects such as art, PE, PHSE, music.
02:07And thinking about how those subjects can contribute to both physical health and mental health.
02:15Okay, wonderful. I'm just going to close in slightly on the children.
02:18Mrs Farrell has just given us a list of subjects at the school that the school wants to develop itself in.
02:24How do you feel about that? Are you excited about that? About all those subjects?
02:29Your favourite things? Each one of you please, starting from Hugo over here. Just give me your favourite subject please.
02:34My favourite subject is PE.
02:36My favourite subject is DT.
02:39Okay, thank you. What's that?
02:41DT is basically...
02:43Is it design and technology?
02:44Yeah.
02:45It is. Thank you very much. Phoebe?
02:47My favourite subject is English.
02:51English, wonderful. You could be a journalist when you grow up. You could be. Not too thrilled about that.
02:57Noah, tell me about you. What's your favourite subject please?
03:00My favourite subject is PE.
03:02PE as well. PE for the boys. Okay, thank you all for speaking to the news. Thank you.
