Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual offer something different in The Kingdom, an entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

The story is set in a present-day, modern, alternate Philippines–the Kingdom of Kalayaan– where the ruling class are royals, and the government is a monarchy. It poses the question, "What if the Philippines was never colonized?"

00:00Hi guys, I'm Piolo, I play the role of Sulu in our film The Kingdom.
00:13I am Big Soto, I'm Lakan Makising of The Kingdom.
00:18It's very special, it is one film that I don't think we've ever seen before.
00:25It's an out-of-the-box concept, which makes it very special.
00:33When Director Mike told me that they're negotiating with Piolo, I said,
00:38I won't do it if Piolo doesn't answer.
00:45I'm a big fan of Bossing.
00:47Growing up, I'm like, wow.
00:49It was really a dream come true for me, doing the scenes with him.

00:58It was a treat for me, and also with the whole cast,
01:01and how passionate our director was whenever he would tell us the scene,
01:05what the scene is about.
01:07It's a very solid concept.
01:09So working on the film and the set, everyone just really worked hard
01:13just to make sure that we didn't leave any stones unturned,
01:16knowing that this is an epic drama.
01:20So definitely, everyone just really delivered.

01:31It's for us to realize the choices that we have and the what-ifs of our life.
