00:00One day, we'll all call him his Royal Highness. But until then, he's just baldy, and that's
00:06not the only thing his wife calls him. By all accounts, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
00:11are a pretty private couple, and rarely reveal much about their private lives. In fact, it
00:16was recently reported that Kate has mastered the art of not complaining or explaining,
00:22much like the family's matriarch, Queen Elizabeth II, who is regarded as a master of stoicism.
00:29In all likelihood, the Duchess' refined manner stems from the fact that she will step
00:34into the role of Queen Consort when her husband becomes King. Incidentally, Kate will also
00:39become the Princess of Wales, the title once held by her mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
00:44In keeping with their reserved nature, we rarely see the couple show any affection towards
00:49one another in public, which is why any PDA catches the attention of royal fans. Unfortunately,
00:56there are few and far between instances of the spouses touching one another in public,
01:01so when they do, eagle-eyed fans are prone to getting overexcited.
01:05With all of this in mind, many people would be surprised if Kate had a nickname for her
01:10husband Prince William, the future King, at all. But what she calls the Duke of Cambridge
01:15is probably one of the more shocking revelations about the royal family in recent memory. Of
01:20course, it's still unclear if Kate still uses this unexpected nickname for her husband.
01:25However, a 2019 report from The Sun suggested that when the Duke and Duchess were a few
01:30years younger, Kate would lovingly refer to William as Baldie. Obviously, this alleged
01:37pet name suggests that the Duke of Cambridge has a sense of humor about his thinning hair,
01:42and yet Baldie isn't even the most eyebrow-raising moniker that the future Queen Consort has
01:47reportedly called her man. The Sun claims that before Kate Middleton and Prince William
01:52married, the future Duchess of Cambridge called her royal boyfriend Big Willie. This
01:58could of course be a play on the Prince's height, as he stands at 6ft 3. Whether or
02:03not Kate was inferring anything else with this extremely cheeky nickname remains to
02:07be seen. Understandably, royal fans are probably wondering what the Duke of Cambridge calls
02:12his wife in return. Reportedly, William's pet name for his princess is Duchess of Doolittle,
02:19or D.O.D. Of course, this royal duo is just like any other couple in many ways, and they
02:25apparently resort to very common terms of endearment too. As The Mirror notes, the Cambridges
02:31are prone to refer to one another with the conventional nicknames of Babe and Darling
02:35just like the rest of us. Kate and William aren't the only royal couple that reportedly
02:42use unusual nicknames for one another. In fact, the sweet monikers of another royal
02:48duo also made the headlines. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are known to be a bit more
02:54affectionate towards one another than Kate and William. From holding hands, hugging,
02:59and even kissing in public, the California-based couple seems far more comfortable with PDA
03:04than their London-based counterparts. That said, the couple's nicknames for one another
03:09are far less cheeky than that of William and Kate. During Prince Harry's appearance on
03:14The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2021, Meghan revealed that her pet name for her
03:19husband is simply Haz.
03:26The Duke of Sussex has also revealed some of the nicknames he has for the Duchess of
03:30Sussex. During his appearance at the Invictus Games opening ceremony, Harry referred to
03:35Meghan with a very conventional expression. While it might not seem very creative, Prince
03:41Harry's supposed nickname for his wife makes his feelings very clear. Royals! They really
03:46are just like us!
