00:24It is a great honor for us to inaugurate the course in Veterinary Medicine in Primo, in the city of Rome and in Lazio, which allows us to meet the ever-increasing health needs from the point of view of the transmissibility of diseases to humans and animals.
00:40Through the cooperation between various actors, not only of the territory but also of the health world, it is possible to be able to answer the questions and questions that new epidemics, new zoonoses deriving from the transmission of diseases between animal and human species,
00:58go to define the One Health concept, that is, the possibility of seeing the health of man, the health of animals and the health of the environment more interconnected.
01:08The pandemic has shown how important it is to have a One Health approach and the connections that exist between human health, the health of animals and the ecosystem, a concept reiterated also by the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci.
01:20It is the right approach, it is the modern approach and it is based on what we have also brought to the attention of other nations during Giuseppe Salute, held in Ancona. And also I, in the Ministry, strongly wanted that during the restructuring there was a new department called One Health.
01:38For Minister Lollobrigida, it is essential to be able to face the great challenges of our time and to look at the health and well-being of animals, but also at the well-being of businesses connected to this strategic sector.
01:49It is an exceptional result that makes it possible to meet the training requirements that also correspond to the requirements of our productive world. This data will allow us to have the first 80 veterinarians in five years, because the course lasts five years, and then to grow up to 400 veterinarians each year.
02:15There are great expectations for the new degree course also by the National Federation of Italian Veterinary Orders.
02:21This course will be as important as it will be well done. There are all the conditions to do it well. We have heard interventions that already imagine international collaborations. There is a meeting between the public and the private sector that makes us hope. I believe that this degree course has the characteristics to become something very important in our profession.
