00:00Well, as far as the acting president, the current prime minister, Han Deok-su, is concerned,
00:05his job will be mainly ceremonial and to try to ensure continuity within the government.
00:11In all eyes, we'll now focus on the constitutional court here, which will determine whether this
00:18impeachment motion is constitutional or not.
00:23They have 180 days to come up with a ruling on that.
00:29Public opinion here, the vast majority approved or was for in favor of this impeachment motion,
00:35three fourths, but there are arguments on both sides and legal scholars say that it's not a
00:40done deal. But nonetheless, South Koreans had their opinions following this impeachment vote.
00:46Have a listen.
00:48In my view, the lawmakers in the National Assembly seem like bad people.
00:52It breaks my heart and it makes me feel despair to see lawmakers trying to depose
00:57our president and trying to seize power themselves.
01:02Last week, the impeachment failed. I felt quite angry.
01:06This week, he was finally impeached, which means democracy has prevailed in the end.
01:13The voting was conducted fairly and lawfully. It is fortunate.
01:17The atmosphere at the scene was a bit exciting.
01:20I feel disappointed since the votes in favor could only reach such a number.
01:25But I know democracy can defeat the president.
01:29So less than two weeks.
01:32So less than two weeks after President Yoon Jong-il declared martial law here in the country,
01:37we now see him impeached. But the deeper issue of a divisive politics, a divisive nation here
01:44continues. So after all this is settled out, we still have here in South Korea divided electorate
01:51that doesn't seem to be getting any closer to a lot of issues that are still unresolved.
